“The Woman in the Window” Poster and Trailer

Directed by Joe Wright, The Woman in the Window is a psychological suspense thriller with a stellar cast. But, don’t fall for the psychotropic drugs because the psychiatric industry labels a person, so Big Pharma can make money and ruin lives. If this woman, played by Amy Adams, were not on these drugs, she’d function just fine.

As the story goes, a child psychologist, Adams, befriends a neighbor, played by Julianne Moore, across the street from her New York City brownstone, only to see her own life turned upside down when the woman disappears, and she suspects foul play.

Tracy Letts’ screenplay based on the gripping, best-selling novel, brings to life, where shocking secrets revealed, and no one-and nothing-is what it seems.

Also starring is Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

White Boy Rick Trailer & Movie Clips

Directed by Yann Demange, White Boy Rick takes place in the 1980s in Detroit. During this time, the city’s crack epidemic was at its height with a War on Drugs.

Starring Matthew McConaughey as Rick’s dad, the movie is based on a true story of a blue-collar father and his teenage son, Rick Wershe Jr., played by Richie Merritt.

Rick became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to life in prison.

The movie also boasts a talented cast including Bel Powley, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Brian Tyree Henry, Rory Cochrane, RJ Cyler, Jonathan Majors, Eddie Marsan, Bruce Dern, and Piper Laurie.

The movie clip is about what was going on in the drug work at the time. Not really a box office appeal but a lesson on the importance of doing the right thing and not breaking the law. 

The movie clip is fantastic. It shows a well written and directed movie with some talented actors.

Demange is a French director who directed a darn good movie called ’71.  Both movies are similar in storytelling with the same placement of the camera. 

The second poster has a white background with the father and son image.

The movie trailer shows a wacky and crazy life on a dwindling spiral.

The movie is streaming now and available on Blu-ray/DVD. The story is tragic but great acting.

“Annihilation” Trailers, Featurette, Poster

The poster is pretty but doesn’t say much about the movie. If you read the book, you know what you are in for. We just hope it is a worthwhile adaptation.

Written for the Screen and Directed by Alex Garland, Annihilation is based on the novel by Jeff VanderMeer – Southern Reach Trilogy.  The movie stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny, and Oscar Isaac.

It’s good to see Jennifer Jason Leigh in this movie.

I watched the movie last night on Prime. Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and the rest of the cast are fantastic. Gina Rodriguez is making a name for herself and starring in several movies of late.

The special effects held its own because I know it’s all green screen. The story is visceral, so without reading the book, it’s hard to track what is real and what is imagined. Each character holds a difficulty close to their chest, which sends them on this “self-destruct” mission.

The creatures the women encounter on their mission brings a horrific layer to the story. They are trying to get to the lighthouse where all their answers will be found. But, that doesn’t happen, which is paradox that makes the movie weak.

The movie is based on a trilogy, and the ending indicates there is more to come. I am curious if that will happen based on the box office returns.
