“The Watchers” Trailers and Poster

Ishana Shyamalan wrote and directed The Watchers, with M. Night Shyamalan producing. Based on the novel by A.M. Shine, the film follows Mina, played by Dakota Fanning, a 28-year-old artist stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland.

When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers, played by Georgina Campbell, Olwe Fouere and Alistair Brammer. Mysterious creatures watch and stalk them each night.

The second trailer shows more of the storyline, which is refreshing.

Boy Kills World

Moritz Mohr directs Boy Kills World, which stars Bill Skarsgård as a “boy” who vows revenge for his family’s murder. Famke Janssen plays Hilda Van Der Koy, the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf, and voiceless. 

Driven by his inner voice, which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, boy trains with a mysterious shaman, played by Yayan Ruhian. He wants to become an instrument of death and set himself loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. 

Bedlam ensues as boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting the wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.

Other cast members are Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Sharlto Copley, Brett Gelman, Isaiah Mustafa, and Andrew Koji.

“Borderlands” Trailer, Images, Storyline and Poster

Eli Roth directs Borderlands, from the top-selling video game franchise. The story begins with Lilith, played by Cate Blanchett. She is an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past. Lilith reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas, played by Edgar Ramírez. He’s the universe’s most powerful S.O.B.

Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits, starting with Roland, played by Kevin Hart. He’s a seasoned mercenary on a mission. Next is Tiny Tina, played by Ariana Greenblatt, a feral pre-teen demolitionist. Tina’s musclebound protector, Krieg, played by Florian Munteanu, is next. Tannis, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, is the oddball scientist who’s seen it all. And Claptrap, played by Jack Black, is the wiseass robot.

Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The universe’s fate could be in their hands. Yet, they’ll fight for something more, each other.

“Twisters” Trailer

This summer, the epic studio disaster movie returns with an adrenaline-pumping, seat-gripping, big-screen thrill ride that puts you in direct contact with one of nature’s most wondrous—and destructive—forces.

A modern-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster Twister, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, Twisters stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell. They are opposing forces who come together to predict and tame the immense power of tornadoes.

Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. Her friend, Javi, played by Anthony Ramos, lures her back to the open plains to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. 

She crosses paths with Tyler Owens, played by Powell, the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew—the more dangerous, the better.

As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before come unleashed. Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

“Wicked” Trailer

Directed for the screen by Jon M. Chu, Wicked, the untold story of the Witches of Oz, stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, a young woman misunderstood because of her unusual green skin. She has yet to discover her true power. Ariana Grande plays Glinda, a popular young woman gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to find her true heart.

The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. After encountering The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads, and their lives take different paths. Glinda’s unflinching desire for popularity sees her seduced by power.

Elphaba’s determination to remain true to herself and to those around her will have unexpected and shocking consequences for her future. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The supporting cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James and Keala Settle.

“The Quiet Place: Day One” Trailer, TV Spot, Images and Poster

Michael Sarnosk directs the third installment of The Quiet Place franchise. Here, we have the prequel, where it all began.

From the trailer, the prequel shows how Djimon Hounsou’s character comes to terms with the aliens and learns to stay quiet. He meets Lupita Nyong’o’s character, who owns a cat, but then the cat is gone. Where did the cat go?

The Quiet Place and The Quiet Place Part II are entertaining films, with Cillian Murphy starring in the second installment.

Since it’s a prequel, we are without Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, though he is a producer, and Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.

“Peter Five Eight” Trailer, Poster and Images

Michael Zaiko Hall wrote and directed Peter Five Eight. The story follows a charismatic man in black, played by Kevin Spacey, who is an assassin with no conscience.

At the behest of his shadowy boss, played by Jake Weber, Peter uncovers the truth about the seemingly glamorous real estate agent, played by Jet Jandreau.

Taking place in a small mountain community, Peter focuses on Brenda, played by Rebecca de Mornay, for information that reveals the real estate agent is an unhinged alcoholic with a dark secret.

Based on The New York Times bestselling and Edgar Award-winning nonfiction book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer by author James L. Swanson, Manhunt is a conspiracy thriller about one of the best-known but least-understood crimes in history.

The series tells the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, alongside Tobias Menzies, Anthony Boyle, Lovie Simone, Will Harrison, Brandon Flynn, Damian O’Hare, Glenn Morshower, Patton Oswalt, Matt Walsh, and Hamish Linklater star.
