Powerful “Dear Evan Hansen” Revolutionary Broadway Musical Spectacle

Directed by Stephen Chbosky, Dear Evan Hansen follows Evan, played by Ben Platt, who reprises his Tony-winning performance as an anxious, isolated high schooler aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social-media age.

The show’s Tony winner Steven Levenson wrote for the screen the film with music and lyrics by the show’s Oscar, Grammy and Tony-winning songwriting team of Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, who gave us(La La Land and The Greatest Showman

If you saw the Tony-winning Broadway hit, you know these Grammy-winning songs. Included is the iconic anthem “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through a Window,” “For Forever,” and “Words Fail.” The rest of the cast is astounding, including Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Colton Ryan, Nik Dodani, DeMarius Copes and Danny Pino.

Fortunately, Marc Platt of La La Land, Into the Woods and Mary Poppins Returns is the producer

Colorful “Spirit Untamed” Horse Rides Again

Directed by Elaine Bogan and co-directed by Ennio Torresan, Spirit Untamed follows a headstrong girl longing for a place to belong. She discovers a kindred spirit when her life intersects with a wild horse as the sequel to the beloved story of Spirit from DreamWorks Animation.

Lucky Prescott, voiced by Isabela Merced, never really knew her late mother, Milagro Navarro, voiced by Eiza González, a fearless horse-riding stunt performer from Miradero, a small town on the edge of the wide-open frontier.

Like her mother, Lucky isn’t a fan of rules and restrictions, which has caused her Aunt Cora, voiced by Julianne Moore, no small amount of worry. Lucky has grown up in an East Coast city under Cora’s watchful eye, but Lucky presses her luck with one too many risky escapades. Cora picks up stakes and moves them back with Lucky’s father, Jim, voiced by Jake Gyllenhaal, in Miradero.

Lucky is decidedly unimpressed with the sleepy little town. She reconsiders when she meets Spirit, a wild Mustang who shares her independent streak and befriends two local horseback riders, Abigail Stone, voiced by Mckenna Grace, and Pru Granger, voiced by Marsai Martin. Pru’s father, the stable owner Al Granger, voiced by Andre Braugher, is the best friend of Lucky’s father.

A heartless horse wrangler, voiced by Walton Goggins, and his team set a plan to capture Spirit and his herd and auction them off to a life of captivity and hard labor. Lucky enlists her new friends and bravely embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to rescue the horse who has given her freedom and a sense of purpose and has helped Lucky discover a connection to her mother’s Mexican legacy — a heritage she never expected.

My daughter and I watched the original Spirit movie at least ten years ago, and it was a favorite that she watched repeatedly. We still have the DVD in our collection.

“The Woman in the Window” Poster and Trailer

Directed by Joe Wright, The Woman in the Window is a psychological suspense thriller with a stellar cast. But, don’t fall for the psychotropic drugs because the psychiatric industry labels a person, so Big Pharma can make money and ruin lives. If this woman, played by Amy Adams, were not on these drugs, she’d function just fine.

As the story goes, a child psychologist, Adams, befriends a neighbor, played by Julianne Moore, across the street from her New York City brownstone, only to see her own life turned upside down when the woman disappears, and she suspects foul play.

Tracy Letts’ screenplay based on the gripping, best-selling novel, brings to life, where shocking secrets revealed, and no one-and nothing-is what it seems.

Also starring is Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

“After the Wedding” Trailer, Clip & Poster

Co-written and directed by Bart Freundlich, After the Wedding follows the manager, Isabel, played by Michelle Wiliams, of an orphanage in Kolkata, who travels to New York to meet a benefactor, Theresa, played by Julianne Moore. Freundlich co-wrote the screenplay with Susanne Bier and Anders Thomas Jensen.

Freundlich and Moore are a real-life married couple with two children. They are working together on this film about a marriage that is about to implode.

Watching the trailer, Theresa’s husband has a past with Isabel, and it didn’t end on friendly terms. There is a young boy from the orphanage who is somehow involved in this triangle.

The next clip is intense, and the acting is superb with ingenious casting.

I am not quite sure where this movie is going. Watching the movie clips, we can see that Theresa and her husband appear to be happy together with their daughter getting married.

Something happened in the past between her husband and Isabel.

Some guys can be real jerks.

“Gloria Bell” Poster and Trailer

Co-written and directed by Sebastián Lelio, Gloria Bell follows Gloria, played by Julianne Moore, as she tries to find meaning to her life. She meets a man, played by John Turturro. They begin a relationship and Gloria tries to end it.

Lelio is best known for directing Oscar winning A Fantastic Woman.

The movie trailer tells us about the story and what happens in Gloria’s life.

“Wonderstruck” Trailers, Clips, and Featurettes

Directed by Todd Haynes and based on Brian Selznick’s novel, Wonderstruck follows Ben, played by Oakes Fegley, and Rose, played by Millicent Simmonds. They are children from two eras who secretly wish their lives were different.

Ben longs for the father he has never known, while Rose dreams of a mysterious actress whose life she chronicles in a scrapbook.

When Ben discovers a puzzling clue in his home and Rose reads an enticing headline in the newspaper, both children set out on quests to find what they are missing that unfold with a mesmerizing balance between them.

The trailer looks excellent, and Selznick wrote the screenplay.

A new clip and poster make me even more excited about this movie. It was such a great book.

Great featurettes! The director and cast shine.

“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” Trailers and Poster

I wanted to post both the green and red trailers, but the red one is blocked for now. I will post it as soon as the production company allows me to do so.

With that, Kingsman: The Golden Circle looks like a fun movie with enough wry humor to keep the edge off of another superhero movie.

I am curious about Sir Elton John’s appearance in the movie as well. I hope he has enough screen time to make the viewing worthwhile.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, who directed the last Kingsman, the trailer pretty much tells the story as we follow a young protege becomes a part of the independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe.

In Kingsman: The Golden Circle,  our heroes, played by a stellar cast of Oscar winners, face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both established. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for

The trailer shows the usual green screen effects claiming a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world.

There are two green trailers but both are different.
