“The Idea of You” Trailer, Poster, Interviews, Clips and Images

Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You follows Solène, played by Anne Hathaway. She’s a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, played by Nicholas Galitzine. He’s the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet.

When Solène must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter’s trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes.

There is an instant, noticeable and undeniable spark. As they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn’t long before Hayes’ superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship.

Solène soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.

Michael Showalter directs the film, and the rest of the cast includes Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Mathilda Gianopoulos, Meg Millidge, Raymond Cham Jr., Jaiden Anthony, Viktor White, and Dakota Adan.

If you read the book and watch these clips, you’ll see that the movie doesn’t follow the book. According to the book, Hayes is 19, and Solène’s daughter is 12 or 13. The movie has them both older.

This clip is blocked in some parts of the world. I suspect it’s because of the music.

Showalter has an impressive list of films he’s directed:
