“Hunter Killer” Trailer, Movie Clip, and Posters

Directed by Donovan Marsh, Hunter Killer is a movie that has the potential to be great. Though, Marsh directorial credits are limited to such movies as Spud and Spud 2. The Spud movies are a far cry from an action thriller as any director can get.

Hunter Killer is based on a story that comes from a novel of the same name written by Don Keith and George Wallace. The screenplay is by Jamie Moss and Arnie Schmidt.

The “Joe Glass” movie clip shows how the movie is filmed to create intensity. Here we have Common and Gary Oldman going at it to move the story along.

The movie is a contemporary story about an unproven American submarine captain, played by Gerard Butler. The captain teams with U.S. Navy Seals to rescue the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a corrupted general.

The final poster reminds of the original poster for the movie The Hunt for Red October starring Sean Connery and Alex Baldwin. It’s a great movie and highly, highly recommend you see it.

Gary Oldman is in Hunter Killer, but the studio is hush-hush about his role in the movie. The other cast members are Caroline Goodall, John Taylor Smith, and Common.

The second trailer tells us more about the story and each role the actor plays.  Comparing it to the first trailer, it looks like there is a lot more going on than I thought.

You need to watch the trailer because your juices will get pumped.

“Indivisible” Trailer, Poster, and Featurette

Co-written and directed by David G. Evans, Indivisible is a faith-based movie about a true story of Army Chaplain Darren Turner, played by Justin Bruening, and his wife Heather, played by Sarah Drew. The couple is strong with a faith-filled marriage. They follow their calling, which is serving God, family, and country.

Fresh from seminary and basic training, Chaplain Turner and his family arrive at Fort Stewart. Yet before the Turners can even unpack their new house, Darren is deployed to Iraq. Heather is left taking care of their three young children alone … as well as serving the families of the other deployed soldiers.

Despite a desire to stay connected with their loved ones, the harsh realities of war take a daily toll over the course of the Battalion’s extended deployment. Meanwhile back home, babies are born, kids keep growing and nerves are frayed with every late-night knock on the door.

With deeply etched battle scars, the soldiers’ long-awaited homecoming is much different than any of their families anticipate. Carrying burdens the other can’t comprehend, the Turners must decide if they’re willing to face one more battle. That battle is fought to save their marriage.

All in all, faith-based movies have their purpose and need for people to be reminded of the higher power of God or whatever one wants to call it. We must not forget our religious beliefs and our beliefs in ourselves and our family.

Cheryl McKay and Peter White also contributed to the screenplay. Evans other directing credits include The Grace Card.

“Megan Leavey” Trailer

Directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, Megan Leavey is a tearjerker and low-budget movie based on a true story that I am happy it is being told. It’s hard to believe the dedication of these service dogs and their owners.

The trailer pretty much tells the story based on the true life story of a young marine corporal, played by Kate Mara, whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq.

When she is assigned to clean up the K9 unit after a disciplinary hearing, Leavey identifies with a particularly aggressive dog, Rex, and is given the chance to train him. Over the course of their service, Megan and Rex completed more than 100 missions until an IED explosion injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy.

“Their Finest” Trailer

I love movies like this because it is a story and a story well told without the big box office blitz or big stars and super special effects.

Directed by Lone Scherfig,  Their Finest follows Catrin Cole, played by Gemma Arterton, who fills a man’s job because London emptied its men now fighting at the Front. The British Ministry of Information hires her as a “slop” scriptwriter charged with bringing “a woman’s touch” to morale-boosting propaganda films. If you didn’t know, a slop writer adds the sentimental touch to a story.

Cole’s natural flair quickly gets her noticed by the dashing movie producer Buckley, played by Sam Claflin, whose path would never have crossed hers in peacetime. As bombs are dropping all around them, Catrin, Buckley, and a colorful crew work furiously to make a film that will warm the nation’s hearts.

Although Catrin’s artist husband looks down on her job, she quickly discovers there is as much camaraderie, laughter, and passion behind the camera as there is on screen.

Gemma Arterton explains the movie well.

Great interview answers from Bill Nighy

“Renegades” Trailer

Directed by Steven Quale, Renegades is about a team of Navy SEALs on an assignment in war-torn Europe. They discover a treasure of gold at the bottom of a lake. The treasure is rumored to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

To help the locals, they go rogue and engineer a heist to retrieve the gold and return it to its rightful owners. But in a deadly turn of events, the enemy detects them and left with only 10 hours to carry out their mission.

The film stars J. K. Simmons and Sullivan Stapleton and is an original story written by Richard Wenk & Luc Besson.

“Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” Trailer

Three-time Oscar winner Ang Lee dives right into an extraordinary vision of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, based on the bestselling novel. The film is told from 19-year-old private Billy Lynn, played by Joe Alwyn, who, along with his fellow soldiers in Bravo Squad, becomes a hero after a harrowing Iraq battle and is brought home temporarily for a victory tour.

The story is told through flashbacks, culminating at the Thanksgiving Day football game’s spectacular halftime show. The film reveals what really happened to the squad which contrasts the war’s realities with America’s perceptions.

The film also stars Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Garrett Hedlund, Vin Diesel, and Steve Martin. Lee used a new technology that involved shooting at an ultra-high frame rate for the first time in film history. He created an immersive digital experience helping him dramatize war in a way we’ve never seen before. Lee directed and produced the film, from a screenplay by Jean-Christophe Castelli and based on the novel by Ben Fountain.
