“About Fate,” Trailer, Poster, Images

Directed by Marius Vaysberg, About Fate takes a genuine stab at Rom/Com with Margot Hayes, played by Emma Roberts and Griffin Reed, played by Thomas Mann.

With Christmas in her taillights and her sister’s, played by Britt Robertson, and New Year’s Eve wedding fast approaching, Margot has convinced herself that her boyfriend – the drop-dead-gorgeous (and narcissist supreme), Kip Prescott, played by Lewis Tan is about to pop the question.

No matter that they’ve only been together for three months. No matter that her reliably blunt mother, Judy, played by Cheryl Hines, who, like the rest of the family, has yet even to meet Kip – thinks Margot is simply setting herself up for disappointment, again. Yet she heads to dinner to meet her beau and is ready to say “Yes!” to the proposal.

But as fate would have it, at the same restaurant is where Griffin Reed is planning to propose to the woman of his dreams, the drop-dead-gorgeous nightmare, Clementine, played by Madelaine Petsch, online influencer and local model, that same night.

New Year’s Eve-Eve, the date of his overprotective mother, played by Wendie Malick, said, ‘I do,’ to Griffin’s dad.

Of course, things go anything but according to plan that evening. And with their respective dubious relationships going awry, it’s ultimately down to Margot and Griffin. Fate throws together two perfect strangers – and two perfect soulmates – to see what’s staring them in the face… Namely, each other.

“They felt right together,” says director Marius Vaysberg of the palpable big-screen chemistry between leads Emma Roberts and Thomas Mann in About Fate, which was filmed in and around Boston last summer over the course of 26-days, “There’s this simplicity and humanity about both of them that they connect in a way,” explains the director. “Because of the pandemic, it was hard for the three of us to meet [before filming], so it was a risk that I had to take. But it felt like it was going to work. And it sure as hell clicked as soon as the three of us met in Boston.”

The secret to a brilliant romantic comedy is simple enough, according to screenwriter Tiffany Paulsen, here marking her first collaboration with Marius Vaysberg and her third with Emma Roberts. “You have to want the couple to kiss,” she says with a gracious tip of the hat to her About Fate director for bringing that last element to the screen. “Marius is genuinely one of the loveliest people I’ve ever worked with,” says Paulsen. “He brings a unique warmth, humor and openness that I’ve never experienced with a director. He absolutely knows what he’s doing and what he wants but has no ego in being open to ideas… I loved working with Marius.”

The Absolutely Lowest, Daring “The Hunt” Trailers and Posters

They are the hunted and unaware that their lives are in danger.

Directed by Craig Zobel, The Hunt begins when twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are or how they got there. They are unaware of the fact they are part of a hunt.

In the shadow of a dark internet conspiracy theory, a group of globalist elites gathers at a remote Manor House to hunt humans for sport for the very first time. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of the hunted, Crystal, played by Betty Gilpin, the hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off, one by one, as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman, played by Hilary Swank, at the center of it all.

For a horror movie, The Hunt includes underlying humor with an intensity boiling to eruption.

Jason Blum is the producer, and of late, he has produced horror movie after movie. He is best known for the films Get Out and Halloween. Damon Lindelof is also a producer, and Nick Cuse wrote the mysterious social thriller. Craig Zobel is known for directing Z for Zachariah and The Leftovers.

The rest of the cast includes Ike Barinholtz and Emma Roberts.

Because the movie was politically not correct, in so many ways, Blumhouse pulled the film indefinitely, but it looks like it is back and coming at us full speed.

“UglyDolls” Trailers, Clips, Featurettes & Posters

Directed by Kelly Ashbury,  UglyDolls is a movie based on toys you can purchase for your kids or yourself, for that matter. We are all unique; even if you are imperfect, you are still a doll.

The playful UglyDolls confront what it means to be different. We are all different – no two people are alike. It is an excellent message for all kids, young or old. We need to appreciate each other for who we are, not what we are not.

I suspect it is easier said than done in the movie, which the UglyDolls learn by overcoming some conflict of sorts.

Ashbury credits are impressive, from Shrek 2 to Gnomeo. & Juliet  The cast includes Emma Roberts, Janelle Monáe, and Nick Jonas.

Enjoy the movie trailers!

The second trailer explains how they became ugly dolls and were set aside or ostracized from society. I can’t help but recall in history the Eugenics – the theory that humans could be selectively bred to weed out undesirable traits and strengthen desirable traits Eugenics was formulated by psychologist Francis Galton a British half-cousin to Charles Darwin Galton was a racist who hated Jews, Irish, and Blacks.

The third trailer offers more of the story and promotes the original songs from pop artists. The blond boy doll is the bad guy but not much of one. The movie is just a bunch of fun with great music.

The following three clips show how this movie is ridiculous. The studio blocked A clip with Jonas’s brother singing as a doll, but it was one of the best. The other clips show a robot dog, and we learn from another clip that even perfect dolls have issues.

The five featurettes explain the development of UglyDolls and how each character contributes to the movie. The inventor of the UglyDolls tells the story of how he came up with the idea in college.

“Little Italy” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Donald Petrie,  who also directed such romantic comedies as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Miss Congeniality brings a playful story of the Romeo and Juliet theme. The tried and true them takes place in Little Italy in New York City.

The two families at odds are owners of rival pizzerias. Instantly, I can think of all sorts of fun puns to add to this article about the movie. I am going to give it to you straight. The story follows two former childhood friends Leo, played by Hayden Christensen, and Nikki, played by Emma Roberts. Like the Shakespeare story, they are attracted to each other as adults—but will their feuding parents’ rival pizzerias put a chill on their sizzling romance. If you are familiar with the story, this particular one is not a tragedy. It is a romantic comedy. A first date movie makes it safe for a budding romance.

I am interested in seeing Christensen play a leading role in a romantic comedy since his past roles are Anikan Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. If you recall, Anikan turns into Darth Vader. I was also impressed with his role in Shattered Glass as Stephen Glass. The young reporter who fell from grace when it was discovered he fabricated is articles.

The cast includes Alyssa Milano, Danny Aiello, and Andrea Martin.
