Shrewd Story With Powerful Message “Trainspotting 2” Trailer

Directed by Danny Boyle about 20 years ago, Trainspotting was a cult sensation that launched Ewan McGregor’s career and Boyle’s. Boyle won an Oscar for directing Slumdog Millionaire.

Now, Boyle and McGregor have teamed up again with the sequel to Trainspotting. What you get to see is first there was an opportunity……then there was a betrayal. Twenty years have passed. Much has changed, but just as much remains the same. One thing, there are social media and devices, but there are still enemies.

The movie is available on Amazon and other streaming platforms.

Mark Renton, played by McGregor, returns to the only place he can ever call home. They are waiting for him. If you have seen the first movie, you know they are Spud, played by Ewen Bremner, Sick Boy, played by Jonny Lee Miller, and Begbie, played by Robert Carlyle.

Other old friends are waiting too with emotions like sorrow, loss, joy, vengeance, hatred, friendship, love, longing, fear, regret, diamorphine (Heroin), self-destruction and mortal danger. They are all lined up to welcome him, ready to join the dance.

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Long Haul” Trailer

Just about a whole new cast in the latest installment of the Wimpy Kid franchise. It looks like fun, but a road trip? It could be fun. Hang on tight because I see some familiar faces.

“Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”

Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and based on Capcom’s hugely popular video game series, comes the latest movie from a popular video game film franchise.

The movie picks up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution.

Alice, played by Milla Jovovich, is the only survivor of what they meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead.

Now, in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, she must return to where the nightmare began, at The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for the last strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.

Game fans enjoy Resident Evil: The Final Chapter because they appreciate the loud, fast, familiar phenomenon. The movie doesn’t follow the games, yet fans still flock to movie theaters. Reviewers comment that for franchise fans, the movie can feel like a “fittingly kinetic conclusion” to the violent action-horror manner.

Game fans will enjoy the show.

Scott Returns to Direct “Alien: Covenant”

With Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise, Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created.

The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise and a dark, dangerous world. They must attempt a harrowing escape when they uncover a threat beyond their imagination.

This movie roars. Yikes!

The movie blends creature horror with a larger, more unsettling story about creation and identity. It’s a philosophical journey about what happens when creators lose control of their creations. Reviews point to Michael Fassbender’s David as the film’s bewitching element. David shifts the storyline from a standard survival mode into a strange, intellectual showdown between synthetic beings and their makers.

Plus, the dark visual perspective and bursts of violence create an edgy, memorable atmosphere despite the uneven plot.

I watched a nice, long clip titled “The Last Supper.” I was surprised to see James Franco. He is the captain, too. There are some other familiar faces. Check out the movie.

“Despicable Me 3” Blu-ray/DVD

Gru is back for the third time, and this looks funny.

The Blu-ray/DVD is out on the streets, and you can get the entire package with all the special featurettes. The featurettes include a mini-movie for some more laughs.

Despicable Me 3 is a physical comedy. The absurd villain antics and the contrast between Gru’s deadpan personality and the chaos around him. A lot of the humor comes from the Minions’ nonsensical antics. Then there’s Gru awkwardly dealing with his twin brother Dru. Let’s not forget Balthazar Bratt’s extensive 1980s villain vibe.

The movie delivers visual gags more than clever dialogue. Children can relate to the jokes and follow them even if they miss some words. The scenes with the twin-brother dinner awkwardness, identity mix-ups, and the Minions are the main sources of laughs.

The film draws laughs from faces, timing, slapstick, and over-the-top characters rather than witty writing. It’s a movie that the whole family can enjoy together.

“The Fate of the Furious”

Directed by F. Gary Gray, The Fate of the Furious begins where Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon, and Brian and Mia have retired from the game. And the rest of the crew are exonerated.

The globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman, played by Charlize Theron, seduces Dom into the world of crime, he can’t seem to escape, and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage… and to bring home the man who made them a family.

Also joining Vin Diesel is a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, and Kurt Russell. Besides Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren.

“Fifty Shades Darker” is Better Than the First Movie?

Hot, hot, hot… When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance. As the two build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.

Shadowy figures?  Interestingly, the second book is better than the first because the storyline brings new light to Christian Grey?

It’s getting darker.

No rules…no punishments…

Take option…two.

“Cars 3” Trailer

Pixar and Disney are promoting everything that will change from this moment, and what that means is there is an accident on the racetrack. There is a dark car that seems sinister, with the added promotion of a dark story.

All I can say is that I hope Pixar doesn’t disappoint us and keeps to its traditional style of prominent characters and an outstanding storyline.

Cars 3 Blu-ray and DVD are available on the street if you haven’t seen the Pixar movie yet. Now is your chance.

Family Movie “Smurfs: The Lost Village”

smufsvillage

Directed by Kelly Asbury, Smurfs: The Lost Village is a fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs. A mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on a thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest.

The forest comes to life with magical creatures. Smurfette and her friends must find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel finds it first.

Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf’s history.

The voice cast includes Demi Lovato, Rainn Wilson, Joe Manganiello, Jack McBrayer, Danny Pudi, and Mandy Patinkin.

The film is fun to watch and keeps families entertained.

“Transformers: The Last Knight” Storyline

Transformers: The Last Knight will be a young adult movie for ages to come, and it looks like some cast members are returning. It’s nice to see Anthony Hopkins in this movie, adding some acting credibility.

So, once again, like so many superhero movies, the greatest hero becomes our fiercest enemy.

To rescue Cybertron, Optimus Prime starts a mission that will destroy Earth. Nobody appreciated it!

It’s time for Bumblebee and Cade Yeager to lead the Autobots against their former ally in the ultimate battle to save humanity from devastation.

The movie and cartoons are streaming. All are available on all discs if you want to see it again or haven’t seen it yet.

I love that line, “I am glad I got in that car with you.” It is cheesy, but fun. It’s a great line to say to Wahlberg.
