With Alien: Covenant, a new chapter in his groundbreaking Alien franchise, Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created.
The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise and a dark, dangerous world. They must attempt a harrowing escape when they uncover a threat beyond their imagination.
This movie roars. Yikes!
The movie blends creature horror with a larger, more unsettling story about creation and identity. It’s a philosophical journey about what happens when creators lose control of their creations. Reviews point to Michael Fassbender’s David as the film’s bewitching element. David shifts the storyline from a standard survival mode into a strange, intellectual showdown between synthetic beings and their makers.
Plus, the dark visual perspective and bursts of violence create an edgy, memorable atmosphere despite the uneven plot.
I watched a nice, long clip titled “The Last Supper.” I was surprised to see James Franco. He is the captain, too. There are some other familiar faces. Check out the movie.
