Ana de Armas Takes Center Stage

Ballerina stars Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, and Gabriel Byrne, with a strong supporting cast of Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves.

Based on Characters by Derek Kolstad and written by Shay Hatten, the story takes place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The film follows Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro at the beginning of her training in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma.

What is the Ruska Roma?

Ballerina attempts to expand the John Wick mythology. The franchise introduces a new protagonist and a detailed focus on the Ruska Roma’s traditions and training. While it promises a fresh perspective and high-octane action, the film treads well-worn ground, raising questions about the franchise’s originality.

The Ruska Roma are the largest known Russian Gypsies, a subgroup of the Romani people in Russia and Belarus, an Eastern European neighbor to Russia.

It’s also a fictional group in Wick’s movies, a powerful criminal organization in Germany. According to John Wick Fandom, it is one of the twelve organizations that holds a seat at the High Table.

A Deadly Quest for Revenge

Eve suffered a terrible loss when she was very young. She then devotes herself to mastering the skills of a killer. Once trained, she searches for those responsible for her father’s death. The journey leads her into a dangerous underworld filled with rival assassins, secret organizations, and brutal confrontations.

“The Matrix Resurrections” Trailers Shows Us What We Want

Directed by Lana Wachowski, if The Matrix Resurrections is as good as its trailers, we are in for a great franchise rebirth starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Neil Patrick Harris and Jada Pinkett Smith.

It’s so cool that “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane plays throughout the trailer. The storyline is just enough so as not to ruin the outcome.

Directed by Dean Parisot, the franchise returns with writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon—Bill and Ted Face the Music. The film will continue to track the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan. Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it.

They will also include their daughters, who help them along the way. A new batch of historical figures join the fantasy, and a few music legends seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony to the universe.

Dean Parisot also directed Galaxy Quest, and as mentioned earlier, the second installment script is by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon. 

These two guys seem like they are having too much fun time traveling.

The featurette moves quickly through clips of the original movie and the sequel. There are interviews with the director and producers who explain what happens when Bill and Ted are older with daughters a lot like them.

This featurette is fun to watch and talks about the large cast.

Directed by Tim Hill, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run at first reflexes on the relationship between Gary the snail and SpongeBob. After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home.

Directed by Tim Hill, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run begins at first to reflect on the relationship between Gary the snail and SpongeBob. 

After SpongeBob’s beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home. 

Hill plays a big part in the evolution of SpongeBob. He’s directed the TV series and SpongeBob’s first movie. 

The trailer offers the story and continues with crazy, nonsensical scenes that make us gut laugh at the silliness. The first part is Keanu Reeves as the sage bush, and the Atlantic City is where SpongeBob and Patrick go.

Chad Stahelski directs Keanu Reeves as John Wick. They return in this third installment – Parabellum – of the non-stop action franchise about the super-assassin Wick. He’s Skyhook with a $14 million price tag on his head and an army of bounty-hunting killers on his heels. The movie trailer shows you precisely what is happening in the movie – just like the other two, but even more. It’s playing on Amazon.

After killing a member of the shadowy international assassin’s guild, the High Table, Wick is excommunicado, but the world’s most ruthless hit men and women await his every turn. The cast, including Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Anjelica Huston, and Ian McShane, are extraordinary. I am so excited to see Huston in a movie.   

The Taxi clip is a bit odd, and I am not sure what it promotes to the fans of this franchise. Like the trailer, we see a lot of rain in New York City.

The next poster is colorful in an ironic way – too carefree and effervescent. It looks like he is in the tropics when most of the footage I’ve seen is in New York City.

The featurette explains the story to us. I like it. Anjelica Houston is seen briefly, but I love that she is in the movie. I hope her part is more extensive than what appears in the featurette.

Keanu Reeves is hyped about the third installment of the unique action movie. In this interview, he is obviously passionate about his character, the director, the style, and the story.

I chose Mark Dacascos and Asia Kate Dillon’s joint interview because they share Reeves’ working style with the cast and crew. They describe the story so well; it is eight minutes long with so much information in general.

The next featurette shows some astounding moves with the motorcycle chase. Seeing Reeves get so excited about a scene in his movie is fantastic.

Film legend Anjelica Huston is on the red carpet at the movie premiere. She talks about her character and the culture of the movie.

The featurette shows Reeves and Berry training for the movie. Watching the footage, they got a great workout and had so much fun.

“Replicas” Trailers and Poster

Directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Replicas is a story created through an idea producer Stephen Hamel shared with Keanu Reeves. Once they discussed and shared ideas, they became enthusiastic about telling a story that raises moral issues – science vs. ethics. “Replicas was born from my interest in the benefits and dangers of emerging technologies that could overcome fundamental human limitations and ethical limitations of using such technologies. Specifically, those human beings may eventually be able to transfer their consciousness from one body to another,” explains Hamel.

Hamel wrote the story, and Chad St. John wrote the screenplay. The story follows William Foster, played by Reeves. After a car accident kills his loving family, he faces enormous intellectual and emotional stakes. 

In a daring move by Foster, a neuroscientist who will stop at nothing to bring his family back to life as replicas – does so. The results pit him against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force, and the physical laws of science.

Alice Eve plays his wife and is best known for her role as Dr. Carol Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness. The other cast members included Emily Alyn Lind, John Ortiz, and Thomas Middleditch.

Science Fiction is nothing new to Reeves, with significant roles in movies like The Matrix and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. The movie trailer looks pretty darn good.

“Toy Story 4” Trailers, Clips, Interviews & Poster

Pixar never tells us the movie’s story in its trailers. They keep us wondering about the movie’s story, which I find refreshing. The trailer for the Pixar movie Coco never showed us how the young boy had to figure out how to return to life. The movie’s trailers showed us a magical world of candy skulls and music.

Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming are available. You don’t want to miss the chance to own this movie. All Toy Story movies are classics, and this one is extra special because Bonnie is now the new owner of Woody and his gang. 

Story by John Lasseter and directed by Josh Cooley, Toy Story 4 looks like a road trip movie. IMDB posts the summary: “When a new toy called ‘Forky’ joins Woody and the gang, a road trip alongside old and new friends reveals how big the world can be for a toy.” The site hosts four videos and some fantastic images. Forky is an arts and crafts toy with pipe cleaners as arms and hands and a plastic spoon for a body, which is clever. I get it; it’s so funny.

Watching the teaser trailer, you get the idea that Forky is a little high-strung.

The second trailer is a cute little skit featuring two stuffed animals talking about the fourth installment of Toy Story. Jordan Peele is one of the voices. If you don’t recognize him, it is because he is the director of the Horror movies Get Out and Us. Thinking about it, it is hard to believe this franchise changed the film industry. We take these movies for granted, and the entertaining story of Woody and his friends.

The third trailer reveals the fourth movie. It starts as a road trip and ends in a toy playground. The craft fork is funny and cute. I noticed that Keanu Reeves is listed in the credits as “voice,” but nothing more.

I laughed so hard a couple of times while watching the movie trailer. Until I saw this trailer, my hopes for this movie were low. Pixar has done it again.

Tim Allen’s interview is funny, provocative, and informative. It is one of the best interviews out of the bunch.

Tom Hanks’s interview is interesting because he talks about the plight of being a toy and Woody’s relationship with Bo Peep.

The movie introduces us to new toys. Each unique toy has a goal and a flaw, but we don’t see many of their dreams or flaws except for Forky. He thinks he is trash and not much of a toy, but he is so cute. Keneau Reeves voices Duke Caboom. Gabby is the villainess in the story, with the ventriloquist dummies as her henchmen.

“Destination Wedding” Trailer, Movie Clips, and Poster

Written and directed by Victor Levin, Destination Wedding brings two actors together again socially awkward Frank, played by Keanu Reeves, and socially awkward Lindsay, played by Winona Ryder. While watching the trailer, I couldn’t help thinking that I had met people like Frank and Lindsay.

The movie joins them at the airport, and they go to a destination wedding. Being awkward, they don’t hit it off very well. Then, their journeys of self-discovery begin as they eventually realize they have a lot in common.

They find out they both hate the bride, the groom, the wedding, themselves, and, most significantly, each other. It is supposed to be a comedy.

Despite their lack of affinity for each other, they are forced together throughout the weekend. Because both are so similar, each other’s cynicism isolates them from the other guests. They continue to spar with each other verbally, and their hearts open up or quickly close. You have to watch the movie to find out.

Victor Levin is primarily a producer but has directed episodic television shows such as Mad About You. Destination Wedding appears to be his second major movie. His first movie is 5 to 7, which he also wrote.

Ryder is so funny in this movie. Reeves plays it straight.

The movie clips show Ryder at her best. Her timing is fantastic.
