Written by Michael Reilly, Keith Beauchamp and Chinonye Chukwu, with Chukwu directing, TILL is a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till Mobley’s, played by Danielle Deadwyler, relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, played by Jalyn Hall.
In 1955, they brutally lynched Till while visiting his cousins in Mississippi.
In Mamie’s poignant grief journey that eventually turned to action, the film shows the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world.
Also starring in the film are Frankie Faison, Haley Bennett, and Whoopi Goldberg.
Directed by Joe Wright, Cyrano comes to the movie theaters once again with a different perspective. With Darkest Hour, Anna Karenina, and Pride & Prejudice on his resume promise the new version of a classic story resplendent with songs and dancing will consume audiences.
Wright’s style envelops us in a symphony of emotions with music, beauty and romance. Cyrano reimagines the timeless tale of a heartbreaking love triangle. Cyrano de Bergerac, played by Peter Dinklage, a man ahead of his time, dazzles others with ferocious wordplay at a verbal joust or with exceptional swordplay in a duel.
Yet, convinced that his appearance renders him unworthy of the love of a devoted friend, the luminous Roxanne, played by Haley Bennett, Cyrano has not declared his feelings for her. And Roxanne has fallen in love with Christian, played by Kelvin Harrison, Jr.
Directed by Jason Hall, Thank You for Your Service follows a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq. They struggle to fit in with a “normal” life, such as being with family and living in general civilian life. It is the memories of a war that threatens to destroy them long after they’ve left the battlefield.
The story is told with a strong ensemble cast led by Miles Teller, Haley Bennett, Amy Schumer, Joe Cole, Beulah Koale, Scott Haze, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Brad Beyer, Omar J. Dorsey, and Jayson Warner Smith. The story is based on the bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and author David Finkel.
This is Jason Hall’s directorial debut. He received recognition for his screenplay American Sniper. He also wrote the script for this heart-wrenching drama.
The trailer and featurette with an in-depth interview with Jason Hall are awesome and touches on the battle our service men experience when they return home. Let’s help them by thanking them for their service and using green mental health treatments, not psychotropic drugs, because they are not the answer.
