“Hard Luck Love Song” Innovative Crime Thriller

In this modern-day gritty love story, directed by Justin Corsbie, Hard Luck Song follows Jesse, played by Michael Dorman. The movie inspiration comes from Todd Snider’s seminal Americana hit, “Just Like Old Times.”

Jesse is a charismatic but down on his luck troubadour living out of cheap motels and making bad decisions. Jesse finds himself at an existential crossroads during a chance encounter with Carla, played by Sophia Bush, an old flame, as their complicated past and current troubles threaten to destroy their blissful reunion.

Watch Dermot Mulroney in the trailer. He’s hardly recognizable. The cast also includes RZA, Brian Sacca, Melora Walters and Eric Roberts.

“I Still See You” Features Bella Thorne

Directed by Scott Speer from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs, I Still See You follows Roni, played by Bella Thorne, in this spellbinding and romantic supernatural thriller. The movie is based on Daniel Walters’s book Break My Heart One Thousand Times.

Ten years after an apocalyptic event left the world haunted by ghosts, Roni receives a threatening message from beyond the grave. Joining forces with a mysterious classmate, Kirk, played by Richard Harmon, Roni descends into a shadow world that blurs the bounds of the living and the dead—and begins a desperate race against time to stop a cunning killer.

Thorne starred in Midnight Sun, a love story directed by Speer with Patrick Schwarzenegger. In each movie, Thorne played opposite characters.

Jason Fuchs is also an actor, but his writing credits include Wonderwoman and Pan.

The movie trailer shows a touch of comedy with the suspense.

The movie looks good via the trailer, and the rest of the cast includes Amy Price-Francis, Hugh Dillon, Shaun Benson, Dave Brown, Thomas Elms, Louis Herthum, and Dermot Mulroney.

“Homecoming” Teaser Trailer

Directed by Sam Esmail, I am excited about this Prime Video Series. Homecoming is a mind-bending psychological thriller. The story focuses on Heidi Bergman, played by Julia Roberts. She is a caseworker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a Geist Group facility helping soldiers transition back to civilian life. Walter Cruz, played by Stephan James. He is one of these soldiers, eager to begin the next phase of his life. Overseeing Heidi and the facility is Colin Belfast, played by Bobby Cannavale. He is an ambitious company man whose manic behavior puts demands on questionable motives.

Four years later, Heidi has started a new life, living with her mother, played by Sissy Spacek. Heidi is working as a small-town waitress, when a Department of Defense auditor, played by Shea Whigham, comes to her with questions about why she left the Homecoming facility. Heidi begins to realize that there’s a whole other story behind the story she’s been telling herself.

The cast also includes Jeremy Allen White, Alex Karpovsky, Dermot Mulroney, among others. Here is a very short teaser trailer.

“The Mountain Between Us” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Oscar nominee Hany Abu-Assad, The Mountain Between Us stars Oscar winner Kate Winslet and Golden Globe winner Idris Elba.

Beau Bridges has a small part but he is good.

The movie follows two strangers who are stranded after a tragic plane crash.  They must forge a connection to survive the extreme elements of a remote snow-covered mountain as they embark on a perilous journey across hundreds of miles of wilderness discovering strength they never knew possible.

This looks like a movie worth watching as long as it has a happy ending.  I am a sucker for any happy ending.
