Every famous narrative is a journey. The protagonist embarks on an adventure, overcoming many challenges to reach their goal. Scholars say Homer’s The Odyssey is the first of its kind.

Filming Locations

Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is about Odysseus’s main journey, played by Matt Damon, and the director shoots epic, mythic action across the world. Locations include Scotland, Iceland, Greece, Morocco, Italy, Western Sahara, and Malta, using IMAX technology.

The film, with a reported budget of $250 million, will debut in theaters on July 17, 2026, marking the first cinematic adaptation of Homer’s epic tale of a long journey home.

What The Odyssey Is About

Reading The Odyssey will probably help you understand the movie. Even if you’ve read Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, with its echoes of the Odyssey, you’ll grasp the narrative.

Cast and Characters

Like Homer’s epic, Nola’s film is about Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and his dangerous journey home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters mythical beings and major obstacles as he tries to reunite with his wife, Penelope, played by Anne Hathaway, and son, Telemachus, played by Tom Holland.

Also starring in the film are Robert Pattinson and Lupita Nyong’o, with Zendaya and Charlize Theron.

“Dunkirk” Trailer and Clips

Directed by Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk is a story mentioned in films or television shows. I don’t believe it has ever been a dedicated movie. It is an amazing story, and World War II has so many stories to tell. The movie is a courageous story at an amazing time in our history.

With that, in May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. Under air and ground cover from British and French forces, troops were slowly and methodically evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found. At the end of this heroic mission, 330,000 French, British, Belgian and Dutch soldiers were safely evacuated.

The movie tells the story of how these fishermen pulled it off.  I am excited about seeing this movie.
