Goldie Hawn in “Snatched” Trailer

I know we should think Snatched is funny, but being kidnapped in a foreign country doesn’t seem like a funny situation.

It all starts after her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation. Impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton, played by Amy Schumer, persuades her ultra-cautious mother, Linda, played by Goldie Hawn, to travel with her to paradise.

Opposites, Emily and Linda realize that working through their differences as mother and daughter – in unpredictable, hilarious fashion – is the only way to escape the wildly outrageous jungle adventure they have fallen into.

Kidnapping occurs in our cities, not just in other countries.  It is hard for me to get excited about this movie, even though Goldie Hawn is starring in the comedy.

Baldwin Voices “The Boss Baby”

Directed by Tom McGrath, The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival affects a family, told from the delightfully unreliable point of view of a wildly imaginative 7-year-old named Tim.

He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and headlines in the animated comedy with a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family. The Boss Baby looks hilarious and should appeal to the entire family.

Its core message is about adapting to a new baby in the family. Families can’t divide their love, which makes it easy for parents and kids to relate to the film. The movie also highlights selflessness and sibling bonding. Parents see a positive theme beneath the exaggerated comedy.

The Boss Baby is a family movie since it gives children the enjoyment and silliness they want while offering parents a narrative about family learning to adjust and build togetherness.

“Despicable Me 3” Blu-ray/DVD

Gru is back for the third time, and this looks funny.

The Blu-ray/DVD is out on the streets, and you can get the entire package with all the special featurettes. The featurettes include a mini-movie for some more laughs.

Despicable Me 3 is a physical comedy. The absurd villain antics and the contrast between Gru’s deadpan personality and the chaos around him. A lot of the humor comes from the Minions’ nonsensical antics. Then there’s Gru awkwardly dealing with his twin brother Dru. Let’s not forget Balthazar Bratt’s extensive 1980s villain vibe.

The movie delivers visual gags more than clever dialogue. Children can relate to the jokes and follow them even if they miss some words. The scenes with the twin-brother dinner awkwardness, identity mix-ups, and the Minions are the main sources of laughs.

The film draws laughs from faces, timing, slapstick, and over-the-top characters rather than witty writing. It’s a movie that the whole family can enjoy together.

“Baywatch” Movie

Directed by Seth Gordon, Baywatch follows devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, played by Dwayne Johnson.

He butts heads with a brash recruit, played by Zac Efron. Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the Bay’s future.

I never watched the TV Show, and I don’t think I will see the movie. Still, I wonder why the men are clad more than the women.

“Why Him?” Trailers and Movie Clip

Directed by John Hamburg, Why Him? happens over the holidays. The story follows Ned, played by Bryan Cranston, an overprotective but loving dad, and his family as they visit his daughter at Stanford.

He comes to terms with his biggest nightmare. He meets his daughter’s well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird, played by James Franco. A rivalry develops, and Ned’s panic level goes through the roof when he finds himself lost in this glamorous high-tech world and learns that Laird is about to pop the question.

James Franco is really having a lot of fun with this role.

Beatty and Collins in “The Rules Don’t Apply”

Written and directed by Warren Beatty, The Rules Don’t Apply is about an aspiring young actress, played by Lily Collins, and her ambitious young driver, played by Alden Ehrenreich. They both struggle, hopefully, with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire Howard Hughes, played by Beatty, for whom they work.

It’s Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen, songwriter, and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey, under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes, arrives in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver, Frank Forbes, who is engaged to his 7th-grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist.

Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test but also defies Hughes’ #1 rule: no employee has any relationship with a contract actress.

Hughes’ behavior intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways. As they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, they challenge their values, which changes their lives.

I am just so happy and delighted that Beatty has another movie to watch. He’s one of my favorite filmmakers.

“The LEGO Batman” Movie

Directed by Chris McKay, the release of The LEGO Batman Movie is proving that Legos are still in the saucy spirit of fun and a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – Lego Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure.

But big changes are brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from the Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others, and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Batman, lighten up? It’s hard to imagine.

The voices starring in this movie are Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, and Ralph Fiennes.

I hope you enjoy the movie!

“Office Christmas Party” Comedy

Directed by comedy directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck, Office Christmas Party is super silly without a strong plotline to follow, but who cares? It’s funny and ridiculous when the CEO, played by Jennifer Aniston, tries to close her hard-partying brother’s branch, her brother, played by T. J. Miller, and his Chief Technical Officer, played by Jason Bateman, must bring the co-workers together and host an epic office Christmas party to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs.

The comedy also stars Kate McKinnon, Olivia Munn, Jillian Bell, Rob Corddry, Vanessa Bayer, Randall Park, Sam Richardson, Jamie Chung, and Courtney B. Vance. The movie seems funny, and it looks like they earned their SAG cards with one-liners from fresh faces.
