Courageous “Daisy Winters” Trailers, Clips, and Interviews

Daisy Winters movie poster
Daisy is courageous, yet profoundly loves her mother, and their relationship becomes painfully broken.

Written and directed by Beth LaMure, Daisy Winters follows a courageous eleven-year-old girl, played by Sterling Jerins. Her unconventional, yet deeply loving relationship with her mother becomes painfully broken.

Along her journey and quest to discover her father, the courageous, resourceful, and intelligent, Daisy learns about how to embrace every moment with determination and an unrelenting belief in herself.

The story pretty much covers everything – love, death, and the meaning of life.

The movie also stars Brooke Shields, Carrie Preston, and Iwan Rheon.

“Incredibles 2: Rising Son” Trailers, Movie Clips, Poster, and Blu-ray/DVD

It’s about time! Incredibles is one of my favorite Pixar movies. I wonder if the movie will be able to hold its uniqueness because the first movie had a clever twist. Superheroes were against the law. It’s interesting how Pixar will simply insert a similarity to something treacherous that happened in our history as an incredible animated movie that appears innocuous.

The logo being altered by Jack-Jack is clever and is the handwriting on the wall that is telling us Incredibles 2 will be a great and entertaining movie. I am excited.

The poster shows many aspects of the sequel storyline. The one that has my interest is the creature at the top of the poster with the blue-flamed bulging eyes and arms menacingly reaching out.

Titled Rising Son with the same talented voices Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) is left to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life, giving him an opportunity to bond with his younger son, Jack-Jack, whose superpowers are emerging—much to Dad’s surprise.

I can’t believe it, Brad Bird is returning to Pixar and directing this movie. He also directed Iron Giant, Ratatouille, and Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

The third trailer is so funny. True to Brad Bird’s style of constant activity and funny situations. This trailer will have you laughing in no time.  Make sure you watch it until the end because you get to see the bad guy. The movie poster shows him but the trailer shows more of what he looks like and can do. It looks like he is hypnotizing people through television.  Only Bird could pull a parody like that off – subtle hint.

The Blu-ray and DVD are hitting the streets with streaming happening, most likely, before the disc releases.  The questions are: Have you seen the movie yet? Do you want to see the movie again?

Either way, here are some clips as a reminder of what a great movie it is or to entice you to see the movie.

Of course, the trailer has funny bits about adolescence and Common Core Math.  There are some funny lines at the very end, too. “You better be back ASAP!”

Fun movie trailer to watch is the best way I can describe it. Jack-Jack is going to steal the show. The reference to Common Core math is hilarious and so true.

“A Quiet Place” Trailers, Featurette, TV Spot, Poster, Final Trailer

Directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place is a supernatural horror movie teaming up husband and wife, Krasinski and Emily Blunt. The movie also stars the Millicent Simmonds of Wonderstruck. The trailer is eerie but beautifully shot. The overall plot is being kept under wraps.

There is a sinister shadow in the poster. I am not quite sure why she is in the bathtub.  If you have seen the movie, you know why, creepy.

The Blu-ray and DVD hit the streets and is streaming as well.

The TV spot promotes this as the final trailer. This trailer shows us everything about the movie. If you had doubts it was scary, well, no more doubts. This movie is intense – a rocket ride to horror.

The second trailer is more intense and scary. It tells you what the story is about and how the family tries everything to be quiet.  We also find out Emily Blunt’s character is expecting a baby.

The TV Spot arrived. It’s a condensed version of the trailer, but I like it.

The featurette shows John Krasinski talk about the movie and explains what happens in the movie and the overall storyline.

“Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” Trailers and Poster

Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation follows Mavis who surprises Dracula with a family voyage on a luxury monster cruise ship so he can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. Of course, the rest of Drac’s Pack cannot resist tagging along.

The monsters are all having a great time, indulging in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to colossus sized buffets and exotic excursions, but then the unexpected happens as Drac falls for the intriguing-yet-dangerous captain of the ship. Balancing family, friends and a budding romance might just be too much, even for the most powerful vampire.

The movie is filled with stellar voices by Adam Sandler (Dracula), Andy Samberg (Johnny), Selena Gomez (Mavis), Kevin James (Frank), Fran Drescher (Eunice), Steve Buscemi (Wayne), Molly Shannon (Wanda), David Spade (Griffin), Keegan-Michael Key (Murray) and Mel Brooks (Vlad).

The movie trailer tells us more about the movie, which the kids will totally enjoy. Very clever facial expressions and personalities will draw them to the movie.

“A Wrinkle in Time” Trailers, Poster, Interview with Director

Directed by Ava DuVernay,  A Wrinkle in Time is based on a wonderful and timeless book by Madeleine L’Engle. My daughter read her book with awe and excitement. The timeless classic came to the screen before in the 1980s. The technology at the time failed to bring the magical story to life.

A Wrinkle in Time Blu-ray/DVD hit the streets. So, if you haven’t seen it yet, nows your chance.

Now, the audience will be able to view the dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

The movie’s cast is stellar with Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Michael Pena, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Zack Galifianakis, and Chris Pine.

DuVernay is a woman of many firsts in the movie industry as a director and screenwriter. In 2012, she won Best Director for her second feature Middle of Nowhere at Sundance becoming the first African-American woman to win the award. For her work in Selma, she was the first black female director to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award and the first black female director to have her film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. A Wrinkle in Time exceeds a budget of $100 million, making her the first black woman to direct a live-action film with a budget of that size.

The movie’s screenwriter, Jennifer Lee, is best known as the writer and director of the Disney’s Frozen, for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The interview with the director, Ava DuVernay, who tells the storyline and describes each character and how each actor plays the role.  This is a must watch and very informative interview.

The second trailer shows more of the storyline. The CGI is pretty awesome looking. I just hope there are no pan shots of CGI.

“The Party” Trailer, Poster and Clip

The Party is a very British movie with a stellar cast. Here is the trailer. I am intrigued that it is in black and white. I haven’t heard much about the movie yet, but here is a clip that shows how this movie seems like a staged play.

“The Post” Trailer, Poster, Blu-ray/DVD Clips and Featurette

There are some real powerhouses in Steven Spielberg’s The Post. It is about an era when the newspapers sometimes had it right and new their duty to report the truth despite the flak from governmental interference.

Here we have Tom Hanks as Ben Bradlee and Meryl Streep as Kay Graham together under the direction of Spielberg’s mastery of timing in brilliant company. We follow them as they come to terms of printing classified information about the Vietnam War.

A time in history about an unlikely partnership between The Washington Post’s Katharine Graham, the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee, as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. If you know the story or read Graham’s book, you know these two people overcame their differences risking their livelihoods and careers – and their very freedom – to help bring long-buried truths out to the open.

Three powerhouses are working together, which I find super exciting and worth seeing. The movie also includes an ensemble cast including Alison Brie, Carrie Coon, David Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Tracy Letts, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Jesse Plemons, Matthew Rhys, Michael Stuhlbarg, Bradley Whitford and Zach Woods.

The movie clip shows how much work they went through to get this story straight.

The featurette below is all about strong women and how strong Kay Graham was during her time.

“Last Flag Flying” Trailer

Directed by Richard Linklater, Last Flag Flying follows three Vietnam vets, thirty years after serving together in the Vietnam War, Larry “Doc” Shepherd, Sal Nealon and the Rev. Richard Mueller.

The slow-paced trailer indicates the undercurrents of them reuniting for a different type of mission. They will bury Doc’s son, a young Marine killed in Iraq. Forgoing burial at Arlington National Cemetery, Doc and his old buddies take the casket on a bittersweet trip up the coast to New Hampshire. Along the way, the three men find themselves reminiscing and coming to terms with the shared memories of a war that continues to shape their lives.

“Cook Off!” Trailer

Directed by both Guy Shalem and Cathryn Michon, Cook Off! follows the reality-show shenanigans mix with the cutthroat world of competitive baking in the delectably sly mockumentary.

I am going along with the shows play on words to describe this crazy and nonsensical story as a buffet of quirky contestants prepare for the renowned Van Rookle Farms Cooking Contest. The heat is on to win a one-million-dollar prize.

As the movie follows the contestants and the wily media and celebrity judges descend on a hotel convention area to see which contestants rise, which ones fall, who will reveal their true nature, and who will find love with the contest’s costumed Muffin Man mascot.

I get the impression that we are seeing nothing but improv with the talented cast that includes Cathryn Michon, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, Gary Anthony Williams, Niecy Nash, Diedrich Bader, Stephen Root, and Sam Pancake. Will the movie be zesty or tasteless?

Perhaps, some viewers will relate the that crazy and give an affectionate nod to ordinary Americans who believe they’re one dollop of spray cheese away from achieving their dreams.

However, this is no British bake off.

“The Man Who Invented Christmas” Trailer, Poster, Movie Clips & Featurette

Directed by Bharat Nalluri, The Man Who Invented Christmas follows the magical journey of Charles Dickens, played by Dan Stevens, which led to the development of one of the most classic characters in literature – Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Christopher Plummer. The classic story includes other well-known characters such as Tiny Tim.

Watching this trailer and being a writer, I find myself caught up in the irony of Dickens creating one of the most celebrated stories ever.

The movie is based on the book by Les Standiford, who is also a historian and has written several books on poignant times in history.  Nalluri also directed Miss Pettigrew Lives for A Day, which did quite well at the box office.

The Man Who Invented Christmas entertains the story of how Charles Dickens mixed real-life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today.

I am delighted to see Outlander alumni, Scottish actor Bill Paterson, who plays Ned Gowan, Simon Callow, who played Duke of Sandringham, and Annette Badland, who played Mrs. Fritz.

I watched the movie with my daughter, and we completely enjoyed the movie. It’s a wonderful movie to watch during the holiday season because Dickens’ message come through loud and clear. Christmas is a time to be with friends and family while helping those who are less fortunate.  The movie is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming. My daughter and I watched it on Prime.

The trailers and clips did not do the movie justice. It is truly entertaining while learning about the life of Dickens.

I saw a great little clip where Dickens struggles to concentrate in a household of children. It such a fun movie to watch during the holidays.

This looks like a fun movie to see during the holiday season.

It is wonderful to see the process of such a great writer.

Great Featurette, the movie gets under Dickens’ skin.
