Directed by Bong Joon-ho, Mickey 17 follows Mickey Barnes, played by Robert Pattinson. He’s a disposable employee sent on a human expedition to colonize the ice world of Nifheim.
It’s a science fiction dark comedy based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey7.
His job involves extremely dangerous tasks. When he dies, they print a new clone with most of his memories intact, allowing the mission to use him repeatedly.
Mickey 17 vs. Mickey 18: The Clone Conflict
The conflict begins when the colony mistakenly assumes the seventeenth version of Mickey is dead. They replaced him with Mickey 18. Mickey 17 is still alive. Since leadership forbids multiple copies of the same person, the two Mickeys must hide their existence. They deal with corrupt colony leadership and the planet’s native creatures.
