DreamWorks “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” Trailers and Poster

Produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Chris Miller, the magical story of Puss in Boots continues with the feline crusader, played by Antonio Banderas, trying to restore his nine lives after using up eight.

According to the DreamWorks fandom page, the original title was Puss in Boots: Nine Lives and Forty Thieves, and it’s now Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The change most likely occurred because the story focuses on Puss getting his last wish to regain the eight lives he spent swashbuckling through fairytale land.

“The Hummingbird Project” Trailer, Clips & Poster

Written and directed by Kim Nguyen, The Hummingbird Project focuses on the ruthless drive in making billions of dollars in the digital world.

The story follows two cousins from New York. Vincent, played by Jesse Eisenberg, and Anton, played by Alexander Skarsgard, are trying to be game changers in the high-stakes game of High-Frequency Trading, which is computer-controlled trading with high-volume in a very short timespan. Winnings are measured in milliseconds.

The cousin’s dream is to build a straight fiber-optic cable line between Kansas and New Jersey, making them millions. But nothing is as easy as it seems on paper because of the cousin’s unforeseen stumbling blocks.

Anton is the brains, Vincent is the hustler, and together they push each other and everyone around them to the breaking point with their foolish and impractical adventure.

Constantly riding their backs and pushing them their old boss Eva Torres, played by Salma Hayek. She is a powerful, intoxicating and manipulative trader and she stops at nothing to come between them and beat them at their own game.

Nguyen is best known for writing and directing War Witch, which follows a child soldier coerced into a civil war in Africa and is claimed to be a witch.

Watch the movie trailer and feel the silliness and intensity of the movie.

Skarsgard is so good to watch on film. He takes on the role and becomes that person using nuances of tone and unspoken expressions. He stars in The Aftermath playing a German after WW II when his country is rebuilding. He is great in that role as well playing against Kiera Knightley.

The following clips tell the story in a roundabout way. The script movies along at a nice pace and the actors eat it up. The clip where he tells her what he is trying to achieve explains the reason for the title of the movie.

“Beatriz at Dinner” Trailers

Directed by Miguel Arteta, the movie follows Beatriz, played by Salma Hayek, an immigrant from a poor town in Mexico. She has drawn on her innate kindness to build a career as a health practitioner in Los Angeles. She collides with her polar opposite, a self-satisfied billionaire, played by John Lithgow, at a wealthy client’s dinner party.

Interesting storyline and I hope it comes to a complete end where the audience isn’t left trying to figure out how to end it.

“How to Be a Latin Lover” Trailer

Directed by Ken Marino, How to Be a Latin Lover stars Eugenio Derbez in the cross-culture movie with more of a Latin flare than a true American comedy. Eugenio plays a very handsome and very young Maximo who dreams of being rich without ever having to work a day in his life.

Having made a career of seducing rich older women, he marries a wealthy woman more than twice his age. 25 years later, spoiled and bored from waking up next to his now 80-year-old wife. He gets the surprise of his life when she ends up dumping him for a younger car salesman.

Forced out of his mansion and desperate for a place to stay, he must move in with his estranged sister, Sara, played by Salma Hayek, and her nerdy but adorable son, Hugo, in their small apartment. Eager to return to the lap of luxury, Maximo uses his nephew’s crush on a classmate to get to his new target-her grandmother, Celeste, a widowed billionaire.

As Maximo tries to rekindle his powers as a Latin lover, he bonds with his nephew Hugo, and he learns that being a Latin lover means that loving money isn’t as important as the love of your family.

Here is another trailer. The boy is hilarious.
