Mission Impossible actress Rebecca Ferguson stars with a fine cast in the Apple TV series Silo, based on the book series of the same name by Hugh Howey.
In a science-fiction, dystopia storyline, we follow Juliette, played by Ferguson, in a ruined and toxic future. Here, a giant underground silo community plunged hundreds of stories deep. People live in a society full of regulations that they believe protect them.
Also starring in the series are Tim Robbins, Rashida Jones, Harriet Walter and Ferdinand Kingsley.
Inspired by the animated short film Pigeon: Impossible by Lucas Martell and directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno, super spy Lance Sterling, played by Will Smith, and scientist Walter Beckett, played by Tom Holland, are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not.
But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions.
But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way because Walter turned Lance into a pigeon.
And if this odd couple can’t learn to work as a team, the whole world is in peril. Kids and parents are going to appreciate the animated comedy with a unique situation. After all, pigeons deserve some respect.
The second trailer took some time to get released. It explains more of the story and looks like a lot of fun for the kids.
The third trailer is funny and tells us what happens in the movie. It is designed to entertain and be silly.
The fourth trailer looks pretty good, though it’s hard to tell if he is a pigeon the whole time or turns back and forth from pigeon to man’s body.
Directed by Drake Doremus, Zoe follows a couple who find love in a science-fiction subterfuge. Zoe, played by Lea Seydoux, is part of an experimental project. The project is revolutionary as a research lab design technology to improve and perfect romantic relationships. Two colleges, Zoe and Cole, played by Ewan McGregor, are part of the experiment. As the work progresses, their discoveries become more profound.
The story appears to be about true love and not fooling with Mother Nature. Let love be as it should be, a natural process. Sure, people fall in love and out of love. Society must let people discover who their true love or soul mate is.
Still, the movie looks interesting as long as it is not slow. A movie like this needs to move fast and get to the point. The movie is available on Amazon Prime. If you are a subscriber, it doesn’t hurt to check it out.
Richard Greenberg wrote the screenplay, and his other movies include The Beauty Inside and Desert Saints. Greenberg is also known for being an assistant director.
Doremus seems to like love stories. His other credits include Breathe In, Equals, and Like Crazy.
The Amazon trailer is not much different from the other trailer. But it is here for your viewing, and you can compare them if you like.
The movie trailer clearly shows the story, so you can decide if you are interested in seeing it. If you are an Amazon Prime member, it will eventually arrive at the mega site.
