Based on actual events about an engineer, Jose Hernandez and directed by Alejandra Marquez Abella, A Million Miles Away follows the first migrant farmworker, played by Michael Pena, to travel to space.
It’s a tale of perseverance, sacrifice, and community to accomplish an impossible dream.
Ashley Ciarra and Bobby Soto also star in the movie that lands on Prime Video.
Directed by Tom Story, Tom & Jerry stars several voice actors, which is a concern. The original classic cartoons had no dialogue, and it entertained kids of all ages. Why change it?
All is not lost since the feature film uses archive recordings of William Hanna. Hanna performed all the original shrieks, howls, screeches, yells, gasps, and screams heard in the cat and mouse cartoons of 1942 to 1957.
The second theatrical movie is the first rendition as live-action and animation. It is Warner Bros.’s first animated/live-action hybrid movie. It’s been 28 years since the release of the first Tom and Jerry in 1992.
The voice actors include Michael Pena, Chloe Grace Moretz, Rob Delaney, Colin Jost. The script is by Kevin Costello based on William Hanna and Joseph Barbera characters. Costello’s screen credits appear limited with Brigsby Bear and one episode for the Jean-Claude Van Johnson series.
Written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, Jexi is a comedy that follows Phil, played by Adam Devine, who is in love with his phone. The movie is about the ramifications of what can happen when you love your phone more than anything else in your life.
Lucas and Moore brought us the two Bad Moms movies and wrote The Hangover, so this movie is gross and disgusting. It also stars Rose Byrne and Michael Pena. Enjoy the Redband trailer.
The second trailer is much better than the red band trailer.
The movie is off-kilter, and I am not impressed with the movie clips. I get the analogy of cell phones controlling your life and interfering with personal relationships.
Directed by James Bobin, Dora and The Lost City of Gold is how I pictured Dora the Explore’s first movie. Though, I don’t see the map in the movie trailer.
Rightly so, Dora, played by Isabela Moner, spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, played by Eva Longoria and Michael Pena, nothing could prepare Dora for her most crazy adventure – High School.
While on a High School field trip Dora and her friends get kidnapped because her parents are looking for a lost city of gold, and the kidnappers think Dora is their way of finding her parents.
Dora is self-sufficient with her backpack and always the explorer. She quickly finds herself leading Boots, her best friend in the cartoon series – a monkey, Diego, played by Jeff Wahlberg, a mysterious jungle inhabitant, played by Eugenio Derbez, and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to get away from the kidnappers, save her parents, and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.
In this clip, we see her parents trying so hard to protect Dora from city life.
Moner is known for her singing career and her performance in the movie Instant Family, where she wrote and sang the movie’s theme song “I’ll Stay.”
The second trailer shows us plenty more of what to expect from Dora with a quick short cut to the Swiper. It looks like the movie is following some of Nickelodeon‘s series.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and The Wasp comes from Marvel. The story is a new age of superheroes that can shrink. Ant-Man arrived in Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang contends with the values of his choices as both a superhero and a father. He tackles the complexity of home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man.
He confronts Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with a crucial mission. Scott dons the suit and learns to fight alongside The Wasp. As a team, they work together and discover secrets from the past.
The movie has an impressive cast such as Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Douglas.
Paul Rudd contributed to the screenplay. He’s joined by Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari. Reed helmed two other movies. The sleeper hit Bring It On, a cheerleading competition stars Kirsten Dunst. He also directed Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn in The Break-up.
Directed by Ava DuVernay, A Wrinkle in Time is based on a wonderful and timeless book by Madeleine L’Engle. My daughter read her book with awe and excitement. The timeless classic came to the screen before in the 1980s. The technology at the time failed to bring the magical story to life.
A Wrinkle in Time Blu-ray/DVD hit the streets. So, if you haven’t seen it yet, nows your chance.
Now, the audience will be able to view the dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.
The movie’s cast is stellar with Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Michael Pena, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Zack Galifianakis, and Chris Pine.
DuVernay is a woman of many firsts in the movie industry as a director and screenwriter. In 2012, she won Best Director for her second feature Middle of Nowhere at Sundance becoming the first African-American woman to win the award. For her work in Selma, she was the first black female director to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award and the first black female director to have her film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. A Wrinkle in Time exceeds a budget of $100 million, making her the first black woman to direct a live-action film with a budget of that size.
The movie’s screenwriter, Jennifer Lee, is best known as the writer and director of the Disney’s Frozen, for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The interview with the director, Ava DuVernay, who tells the storyline and describes each character and how each actor plays the role. This is a must watch and very informative interview.
The second trailer shows more of the storyline. The CGI is pretty awesome looking. I just hope there are no pan shots of CGI.
