The War With Grandpa

“The War With Grandpa” Holds a Wealth of Laughs

Directed by Tim Hill, The War With Granpa follows Peter, played by Oakes Fegely, who is thrilled that Grandpa is coming to live with his family.

That is, until Grandpa, played by Robert De Niro, moves into Peter’s room, forcing him upstairs into the creepy attic.

And though he loves his grandpa, he wants his room back – so he has no choice but to declare war.

With the help of his friends, Peter devises outrageous plans to make Grandpa surrender the room. But Grandpa is tougher than he looks. Rather than give in, Grandpa plans to get even.

Based on a book by Robert Kimmell Smith, the film looks like a lot of fun with a stellar cast that includes Uma Thurman, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour, Cheech Martin, and Robert Riggle.

Enjoy these movie clips because they are a lot of fun and good laughs. There is some great talent in this film. Walken looks like he is in his element with skateboarding and falling from the sky as Santa Claus.

“Little Italy” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Donald Petrie,  who also directed such romantic comedies as How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Miss Congeniality brings a playful story of the Romeo and Juliet theme. The tried and true them takes place in Little Italy in New York City.

The two families at odds are owners of rival pizzerias. Instantly, I can think of all sorts of fun puns to add to this article about the movie. I am going to give it to you straight. The story follows two former childhood friends Leo, played by Hayden Christensen, and Nikki, played by Emma Roberts. Like the Shakespeare story, they are attracted to each other as adults—but will their feuding parents’ rival pizzerias put a chill on their sizzling romance. If you are familiar with the story, this particular one is not a tragedy. It is a romantic comedy. A first date movie makes it safe for a budding romance.

I am interested in seeing Christensen play a leading role in a romantic comedy since his past roles are Anikan Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise. If you recall, Anikan turns into Darth Vader. I was also impressed with his role in Shattered Glass as Stephen Glass. The young reporter who fell from grace when it was discovered he fabricated is articles.

The cast includes Alyssa Milano, Danny Aiello, and Andrea Martin.

“Just Getting Started” Trailer

Written and directed by Ron Shelton, who brought us Tin Cup and Bull Durham, Just Getting Started follows Duke Diver, played by Morgan Freeman. Duke is a freewheeling manager of the luxury Palm Springs resort, the Villa Capri.

The story is about a Diver who might have a mysterious past. Yet, he is on top of his game because he’s a pro at ensuring that life for the high-spirited residents is one big, non-stop party. But the existing state of affairs is challenged when ex-military charmer Leo, played by Tommy Lee Jones, checks in, triggering a competition between Duke and Leo for the top spot of Alpha male, as well as for the affections of the newly-arrived Suzie, played by Rene Russo.

Duke’s past unexpectedly catches up with him, and Leo and Duke put aside their differences. The two men reluctantly team up to stop whoever is trying to kill Duke and save Villa Capri.

Additional cast includes Jane Seymour, George Wallace, Joe Pantoliano, Glenne Headly, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Graham Beckel and Elizabeth Ashley.
