“Lizzie” Trailer, Movie Clips, and Poster

Directed by Craig William Macneill,  Lizzie is about the notorious woman Lizzie Borden, played by Chloe Sevigny. You might remember the famous or not-so-famous skipping-rope song about the woman who was accused of chopping her mother and father to bits.

“Lizzie Borden took an ax

And gave her mother forty whacks.

When she saw what she had done,

She gave her father forty-one.”

Still, there is a mystery to the true story that endures throughout American history. Many writers speculated in their own versions and books about what happened on that deadly day.

The movie follows Lizzie after a lifetime of loneliness. She finds a kindred spirit in housemaid Bridget Sullivan, played by Kristen Stewart. Their secret intimacy sets off an unthinkable act – while the movie explores the days leading up to the savage crimes in a dark tale of repression, exploitation and thwarted dreams.

The two movie clips below show the story’s dark and sinister aspects. Unfortunately, one of the movie clips is blocked, but the studio may lift the block in the near future.

The two movie clips below show some fine acting chops. I am impressed. Notably, the scene in the barn is worth a look. It is an excellent acting scene for student actors because the undertones are deep.

The movie clip helps you understand how the movie is presented. You will notice a date at the bottom of the right-hand corner of the screen. These are actual events that happened.

“The Little Stranger” Trailer, Movie Clips, and Posters

I become giddy when I find a horror movie I know I will enjoy and appreciate as a production. Such is the case with The Little Stranger. Based on a bestseller directed by Lenny Abrahamson,  the story follows Dr. Faraday, played by Domhnall Gleeson, the son of a housemaid. He built a life of quiet respectability as a country doctor.

During the long, hot summer of 1948, the doctor is asked to visit a patient at Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked. The Hall has been home to the Ayres family for more than two centuries. The doctor is surprised to find the home is no longer grandiose but in decline, and its inhabitants, mother, son, and daughter, are haunted by something more ominous than a dying way of life.

He takes on his new patient with no idea how closely and disturbingly the family’s story is about to become entwined with his own.

The featurette clearly explains the story and how the director works with the story.

The movie clip shows how the young doctor wants to climb social status. Perhaps his desire prevents him from seeing the darkness within the family.

Watching this clip is the reason why I want to see this movie. It is suspenseful and horrific in a daunting way.

The movie clips show how Abrahamson keeps the movie centered on the doctor but with undertones of suspense. This is going to be a great horror movie.

“Overlord” Trailers and Poster

Directed by Julius Avery and produced by J.J.Abrams, very little content is available regarding this movie. Their publicity department says “The story of two American soldiers behind enemy lines on D Day.”

Those words could mean anything about World War II, but watch the trailer and it is obvious Overlord, written by a couple of screenwriters, Billy Ray, and Mark L. Smith, is a horror movie. My feature image proves as well it is a horror movie.

Billy Ray wrote some impressive scripts from Shattered Glass to The Hunger Games. Mark L. Smith biggest credit is The Revenant.  Overlord may prove to be a fruitful horror movie for fans of the genre.

Avery other movies include Son of a Gun and Jerrycan.

Overlord cast includes Wyatt Russell, Bokeem Woodbine, and Pilou Asbæk.

The final movie trailer tells the story of what we will see when we go to the movie. I like the style of the music and attitude of the overall theme.

The movie trailer shows several Americans parachuting into German territory and confronting a Nazi experimental lab gone gruesome and horrific. The poster adds to the several parachuting with the parachutes in blood red.

“Hell Fest” Trailers, Featurette, and Posters

Directed by Gregory Plotkin, Hell Fest follows three teenagers, played by Amy ForsythReign Edwards, and Taylor-Klaus, into a Hell Fest.  There is an urban legend about a teenage girl being killed last year at Hell Fest, which is a strong foreshadowing.

As the movie plays out and verified by the movie trailer, someone in the fest is killing the teenagers. Security and others are saying it’s part of the fest.

Gale Anne Hurd is a legend as a producer. She brought us cutting-edge movies like The Terminator.  The vignette of you talking about Hell Fest is super. Enjoy!

The poster below shows the characters with the focus on the lead,  Forsyth,  someone the audience can focus on even though the movie has an ensemble cast.

The next poster shows the theme park barker to the left. He is an interesting character, and the actor who plays him sees him as a pirate who wears things he collects.

Here is the 80s Trailer the studio produced for promoting the movie. I like it. I’d love to see this style come back to movie trailers. They are so simple and easy to follow because it tells you what the movie is about not the whole story. The narration is awesome, too.

Plotkin edited both Get Out and Happy Death Day. He directed one of the Paranormal Activity movies. Hell Fest is scripted by at least seven screenwriters.

“Suspiria” Trailers, Movie Clips, and Poster

Directed by Luca Guadagnino, who directed Call Me By Your Name, Suspiria takes place a the center of a world-renowned dance company. The dark movie follows the company’s artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist.

A fancy horror movie where some will succumb to the nightmare while others will finally wake up.

The movie stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Dakota Johnson, and Tilda Swinton.

The “Susie’s First Dance” movie clip shows a great intensity and I am not sure why Swinton’s character is drawn to come and watch Susie dance. Is it a telepathic message? Foreboding being sensed by Swinton’s character?

The movie clip shows the stress of being at this dance studio.  I am not quite sure what is happening yet.

Creepy, creepy and creepy is all I can write about the next trailer. No doubt in my mind, this is a horror, suspense movie.

These horror suspense movies always have me guessing what the movie is about. Watch the second trailer, and you will see what I mean.

The movie trailer protends something terrible happening with evil lurking in a small community.

Simplistic, Strange “Down A Dark Hall” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Rodrigo Cortes, Down A Dark Hall follows Kit, played by Anna Sophia Robb. She is a problematic young girl, and her temper makes it difficult for her mother to take care of her.

Hence, she ordered to the mysterious Blackwood Boarding School. She arrives at Blackwood and faces the eccentric headmistress, Madame Duret, played by Uma Thurman. She also meets the school’s only four other students. They, too, are young women headed down a troubled path.

While exploring the labyrinthine corridors of the school, Kit and her classmates discover that Blackwood Manor hides an age-old secret rooted in the paranormal.

Based on the classic gothic YA novel of the same name by Lois Duncan. Duncan also authored I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Isabelle Fuhrman, Victoria Moroles, Noah Silver, Taylor Russell, and Rosie Day round out a talented cast.

The movie is now streaming on Amazon if you want to check it out.

The author of Twilight and The Host, Stephenie Meyer, produced the movie. Cortés also directed the film Buried. They are calling Down A Dark Hall a supernatural thriller. But it sure seems like a horror movie. Watch the trailer, and you’ll see what I mean.

Astonishing “Predator” Trailers, Posters, and Blu-ray & DVD

Directed by Shane Black, the new tale of The Predator arrives from outer reaches of space and lands in the small-town streets of suburbia. Though it appears innocent, Black brings a different twist this time compared to the original starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The hunt comes home with children and parents. The most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter, and deadlier than ever before. They have genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species.

In the movie trailer, it shows a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth. Who is going to save the day this time? A ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher will join forces to save the end of the human race.

The ensemble cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski.

The movie is streaming and is available on Blu-ray and DVD if you didn’t get a chance to see the film in the theaters, now you can.

The red band trailer tells more of the story. It appears a human male transforms into a predator. So, he is half human and half predator. What does that mean? The red band label is because one of the male characters says something raunchy.

The latest poster is so wicked with a sophisticated touch. The orange background flourishes with spicy motives. The predator’s hand on a predator’s head with a spine is clockwork orange expression. Kubrick would be proud.

Shane Black is legendary for screenwriting the top scripts for movies like Lethal WeaponThe Long Kiss Goodbye, and The Last Boy Scout. In an interview with Robert Downey, Jr., Downey praised Black’s work on Iron Man 3.

“Distorted” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Rob King, Distorted follows a young couple, played by Christina Ricci and Brendan Fletcher. They decide to leave the hustle and bustle of city life to the rural, luxury life at The Pinnacle.

The Pinnacle is not all that it is cracked up to be. There is something horrifically fishy about the tenants and living conditions. Ricci’s character, Lauren, befriends an investigator, played by John Cusack. Together, they try to uncover a possible brainwashing conspiracy at The Pinnacle.

The movie trailer is good and tells us the story. Back in my mind, I am thinking horror and suspense, but the studio is calling the movie “electric thriller.” You be the judge and watch the movie trailer.

“Beast” Trailer, Movie Clip, and Poster

Written and directed by Michael Pearce, very little is promoted about the movie Beast. The story follows a young woman named Moll, played by Jessie Buckley – an Irish singer and actress. Moll lives in an isolated community with her domineering family.  She meets a stranger named Pascal, played by Johnny Flynn – an English poet and musician.  It is rumored that Pascal is a ruthless murderer with reports of young girls being murdered and then buried.  Moll is torn between her family, the rumors, and Pascal’s true intentions.  Horror is written all over this movie.

The movie received five nominations from different film festivals such as Best Screenplay at the Miami Film Festival, Best First Feature at the London Film Festival, and Platform Prize for Michael Pearce at the Toronto Film Festival.

The movie trailer is nerve-wracking, suspenseful, and horrific. Toward the end of the movie trailer, another character is introduced but I can’t tell for sure Could this be the real murderer?

The movie clip shows her getting even with her mother.

“Hereditary” Trailers and Posters

Written and directed by Ari Aster, Hereditary follows a family’s aftermath of when the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away. The daughter, played by Toni Collette, begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The whole family gets involved in uncovering the mystery. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited.

Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown. The movie is about a familial tragedy that is ominous and deeply disquieting and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.

The Blu-ray and DVD are available with streaming happening as well.  Now is the time to watch the horror movie because, if you are a fan of horror, you don’t want to miss it.  This is one creepy and horrific movie that any horror fan will slit their gums to see.

The below Blu-ray/DVD trailer is far better than any of the theatrical trailers.  I am impressed, to say the least.

The movie also stars Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, and Milly Shapiro. Shapiro plays the creepy daughter.  Watch her in the movie trailer and you will see how creepy she is, which is horrifically entertaining.
