“Greta” Trailer, Movie Clips, & Interviews

Co-written and directed by Neil Jordan, Greta is an awkward movie with many undercurrents as one heck of a scary movie.

Jordan’s directing credits are impressive, with Interview with a Vampire, The End of the Affair, The Crying Game, and Mona Lisa. The story Greta came from Ray Wright, who also co-wrote the screenplay. His credits are few, with movies like Crazies and The Pulse.

The movie follows a young woman Frances, played by  Chloë Grace Moretz, who befriends a widow, played by Isabelle Huppert. The widow is not as sane as she appears. Watch the trailer, and the plot is easy to follow. Maika Monroe also stars in the movie playing Erica. It isn’t clear her character’s role in the story. In the trailer, it appears she is a close friend of Frances or perhaps her sister.

The movie clips show more of the story about how this woman is a crazy psychopath. The third clip is even better and tells more of the story. Greta is looking like a horror movie more and more.

The following clip shows five warning signs that you have a crazy lady stalking you and wanting to kill you. The last warning sign is a huge spoiler.

Moretz talks about the movie and the role she plays. She explains why she likes the film and picked to star in the thriller.

Jordan is best known for directing The Crying Game and Michael Collins. The soundbites with him offer insight into his approach to directing Greta.

The following movie clip shows the difference between the two young woman characters. The movie is a thriller, horror, and suspense. This scene defines Moretz’s character’s vulnerability – kindness and virtue. Is that a realistic quality to drive people to the box office?

“BrightBurn” Interview, Poster, Clip & Trailers

The poster shows the movie is a parody of superheroes, or at least, the movie is about an anti-superhero.

Directed by David Yarovesky, who brought us, Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither draws our attention to a new genre he’s started called “Superhero Horror.”

Not for the weak heart who dreams of Superman and Captain America, a child, played by Jackson A. Dunn, from another world crash-landed on Earth. A couple, played by Elizabeth Banks and David Denman, adopt him, and instead of becoming a hero to humanity, he proved to be something far more sinister.

Horror fans will go crazy over this movie, and they’ll demand a sequel after sequel. With that, I warn you to be careful when you watch the movie trailer. The ending is similar to The Prodigy trailer.

The movie is scripted by cousins Mark and Brian Gunn, who may relate very well to the producer James Gunn. The Gunn cousin’s credits include quite a bit of episodic TV shows.

The rest of the cast looks strong, including Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner.

The second trailer is much better and scarier, and it shows us a lot of what happens in the movie. That is good, and that is bad. It is good because we can see it is a blood-curdling horror movie. When his eyes turn red, oh boy, lookout, it is bad because we know what happens in the movie. Spoilers!

The “Indestructible” movie clip shows Brandon discovering his alien talents. The look on his face says it all, “Look out, world, here comes an evil superhero.”

I’ve included the Elizabeth Banks soundbites because she articulates the story so well. She understands this movie and knows what it means to create a horror-superhero movie. She shares with us what it’s like to work with Yarovesky.

“Happy Death Day 2U” Trailers, Movie Clip & Interviews

Written and directed by Christopher Landon, Happy Death Day 2U follows, once again, Jessica Rothe’s character Tree as she leads the returning cast of Happy Death Day

The first Happy Death Day movie was a surprise hit, so Blumhouse decided to produce a sequel. The film is a horror version of Ground Hog Day. The main character lives her day repeatedly until she finds her killer.

The movie is available online. The theme moves with interesting, repeating twists and comic turns. This time, our hero, Tree, discovers that dying over and over is surprisingly more natural than the dangers that lie ahead. That means there are more dangers in the second movie.

I fell in love with Beary McCreary’s music for the popular Outlander series on Starz. He’s behind composing music for the time-traveling series since the first season.

As you listen to his interview, he calls the Happy Death Day franchise a “horror time travel movie.” I am sure he came up with that description from the Outlander storyline. It’s good to know he loves time-travel-themed projects.

After watching the second trailer, I admit the sequel looks better than the original movie. I figure we acclimated to Tree solving the mystery of who her killer is while dying repeatedly. The comedy of the situation is taken up a notch.

The third trailer, Trailer 2R, is fun to watch if you need a good laugh. It’s hilarious. Blumhouse produced a winner, but horror fans will miss the blood and gore.

The movie clip is a big teaser. The killer wears the baby face mask that comes off, revealing who it is. The characters get to see who it is, but we don’t. I am not even sure when it gets shown in the movie. Still, the film comes across well, and the scenes are intense.

Jessica Rothe, as Tree Gelbman, talks about the movie’s storyline and how the sequel differs from the original film.

Interview with Jessica Rothe & Israel Broussard shows the chemistry between these two actors. They share what happens in the sequel.

“The Prodigy” Trailers, Movie Clips, & Featurettes

If you can’t get enough of a horror movie rush, then watch this trailer. It will take you out of your skin and give you a massive rush with your heart flip-flopping to the fright the trailer provides at the end of the trailer.

Directed by Nicolas McCarthy, The Prodigy is a horror thriller transcending beyond Michael Myer in creepiness and Regan in disfigurement.

The story follows a mother named Sarah, played by Taylor Schilling, whose young son Miles, played by Jackson Robert Scott, is behaving in a more than disturbing characteristic. It signals that an evil, possibly supernatural force has overtaken him.

For her family’s safety, Sarah must choose between her maternal instinct to love and protect Miles and a desperate need to investigate what – or who – is causing his dark turn.

She is forced to look for answers in the past, taking the audience on a wild ride where the line between perception and reality becomes frighteningly blurry.

McCarthy’s directing credits include other horror movies and shorts. The screenplay is by Jeff Buhler, who seems very busy writing horror movies. The soon-to-be-released Pet Sematary is his last script, with others on the way.

The movie trailer will rock your horror socks off. Indeed, it is scary.

Creepy is the first thought I have about this second trailer. Mother’s worth fear becomes a reality. The second poster shows how the mother’s relationship with her son is the key to the horror story.

Do you see the hands reaching from behind?

The “He’s Here” movie clip is scary. I jumped out of my skin.

The movie clip and featurette set the pace for what to expect in the movie theaters. This is a mother’s worst nightmare. Scott, as the boy, is unbelievable as the “innocent” and creepy son of a single mother.

The featurette introduces you to the director, music composer, and other behind-the-scenes crew. The horror movie will shock you out of your head.

The cast and crew praise Scott, who plays Miles, and watching these clips, you see an evil kid. But, watch the featurette about Scott, and you see a normal kid who knows how to be evil.

https://youtu.be/bV-oPkGEQ0c

The movie is available online or Blu-ray/DVD package. No matter how you view this movie, it is fantastic and horribly intense.

Scott, as the young man possessed by some demon, is brutal. I am on the seat of my chair, anticipating something evil to happen.

Sarah goes through so many emotions about her son’s plight. Don’t watch the movie alone.

“The Possession of Hannah Grace” Trailer and Posters

Directed by Diederik Van Rooijen, The Possession of Hannah Grace is a horror thriller scripted by Brian Sieve.

The story follows Megan Reed, played by Shay Mitchell, who is working the graveyard shift in the morgue. A new career move for Megan begins a shocking tale caused by an exorcism that spiraled out of control.

Claiming the life of a young woman and months later the dead girl body arrives during Megan’s shift. The disfigured cadaver is not quite dead, though Megan is not aware of the situation until they are locked alone together inside the basement corridors.

Megan experiences horrifying visions and realizes the body may be possessed by a ruthless demonic force.

The second poster is all about Mitchell’s character and her situation of being in the basement corridor, and it’s dark with the demon lurking around to get her.

Mitchell is best known for her role in the TV series Pretty Little Liars and her YouTube Channel.

Van Rooijen is from the Netherlands and directed several films in his country winning a couple of awards. Screenwriter Sieve is best known for writing for TV shows like Teenwolf and Scream. Recently, it was announced Sieve is signed on to script another horror movie called The Exorcism at Lincoln High.

The rest of the cast includes Grey Damon, Kirby Johnson, and Stana Katic.

The movie poster looks a little awkward until I saw the movie trailer. Then, the twisted arm and wrist made sense.

“Pet Sematary” Trailers, Poster, Clips, Interview with Directors & Featurette

Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer and based on the influential horror novel by talented and prolific author Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed, played by Jason Clarke. He and his family relocated from Boston to rural Maine. He and wife, played by Amy Seimetz, have two young children.

They discover an enigmatic burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. A tragedy strikes the family, and Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall, played by John Lithgow. This sets off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

Such a great cast draws me to this movie.  Jason Clarke other latest movie is Serenity. Kolsch and Widmyer teamed up before directing horror movies. Both come from diverse backgrounds with Widmyer a graduate from Long Island University’s film school.

The second trailer is so scary, but it tells you what happens in the movie. This is a classic by Stephen King, so the studio figures everybody knows the plot. Clarke is so good in this movie, creepy.

The featurette tells us we are in for a true horror movie. I got the jiggers just by watching this featurette.

The interview with both the directors, Kolsch and Widmyer, is full of information about King and his books. They take their knowledge and apply it to the movie. They talk about directing the actors and how they work to develop their characters.

These two guys are funny when they talk about directing cats. Their personalities come out, and they are different, but their rapport is so strong.

“Are you happy mommy?” sends chills up my spine. The movie clip will drive horror and Stephen King fans to the movie theaters.

I totally jumped out of my skin watching the final trailer. This movie is scary and horrific.

“Silencio” Trailer and Poster

Written and directed by Lorena Villarreal, Silencio is based on her fascination with (la Zona del Silencio) the Zone of Silence in Mexico. It provides supernatural tales time and time again. “We really wanted to focus on the mysteries of all these mysterious occurrences that had no explanations,” says Villarreal. “We did a lot of research, interviewed multiple sources, including certified experts to long-living locals.”

Villarreal story strays from the facts for dramatic storytelling, but she wanted to stay true to the overall facts and tales of the area. Even though there are unknown supernatural elements in the film, the team could preserve the essence of the Zone of Silence. “We are all naturally curious about these types of places—the Pyramids of Giza, the Bermuda Triangle, and finally, the world will learn about the Zone of Silence, which lies on the same parallel line to both of these great areas,” says Villarreal.

The type of odd occurrences in the Zone of Silence, Mexico are Instruments and communications failures, as well as strange happenings, which tie into the many stories of the area, just like Bermuda and the Pyramids, but few people know it exists. “Audiences will be in awe of the Zone of Silence, but they will also be drawn to a story about family and hard choices. Silencio revolves around the life of Ana and her family and how this powerful stone found in the Zone of Silence will affect their future. It is about love, courage and the unknown,” says Villarreal. “The central question Silencio asks is, “How far would you go to save the ones you love?”

Producer Denisse Chapa agrees with Villarreal. “It was important for us to film part of the movie on-site, in the actual location of the Zone of Silence. We were told about some magnetism in the area that may cause all sorts of mechanical failures of equipment, cars, rockets. We were nervous about the footage being affected.”

Chapa explained, “When the team tried to use drones for aerial shots, they experienced some of the local oddities they had heard tales of. The drone got lost, and we did not find it until the next day. So, we experienced some of the mysteries firsthand.”

Ana, played by Melina Matthews, is a young psychiatrist and single mother who lives a quiet life, taking care of her young son and grandfather, Dr. James White, played by John Noble, a world-renowned scientist who now struggles with dementia.

The backstory began in 1970, Dr. White, with the help of his apprentice, Peter, played by Nic Jackman (Rupert Graves plays the older Peter), found a very powerful stone in the Zone of Silence, Mexico, a mysterious place where inexplicable things happen and are often referred to as the “Bermuda Triangle” of Mexico.

After uncovering the stone’s powers, Ana’s grandfather hid it to prevent the terrible consequences it could unleash if it fell into the wrong hands.

Someone now knows the stone’s power and believes it is worth killing for. Ana’s life turns upside down when she realizes she has to find the stone to save her son’s life.

The cast includes Michel Chauvet and Hoze Meléndez.

“I Still See You” Features Bella Thorne

Directed by Scott Speer from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs, I Still See You follows Roni, played by Bella Thorne, in this spellbinding and romantic supernatural thriller. The movie is based on Daniel Walters’s book Break My Heart One Thousand Times.

Ten years after an apocalyptic event left the world haunted by ghosts, Roni receives a threatening message from beyond the grave. Joining forces with a mysterious classmate, Kirk, played by Richard Harmon, Roni descends into a shadow world that blurs the bounds of the living and the dead—and begins a desperate race against time to stop a cunning killer.

Thorne starred in Midnight Sun, a love story directed by Speer with Patrick Schwarzenegger. In each movie, Thorne played opposite characters.

Jason Fuchs is also an actor, but his writing credits include Wonderwoman and Pan.

The movie trailer shows a touch of comedy with the suspense.

The movie looks good via the trailer, and the rest of the cast includes Amy Price-Francis, Hugh Dillon, Shaun Benson, Dave Brown, Thomas Elms, Louis Herthum, and Dermot Mulroney.

“Anna and the Apocalypse” Trailer, Featurettes, & Posters

Directed by John McPhail,  Anna and the Apocalypse is a silly, comedy, horror, musical movie. The story focuses on Anna, played by Ella Hunt.  A zombie apocalypse hits the sleepy town of Little Haven on Christmas. Anna and her high school friends have to fight, sing and dance to survive the apocalypse. They are surrounded by a large mass of undead people around them.

The music featurette explains how the horror movie is really a musical.  It looks like a lot of fun.

The “Zombie” featurette is quick paced and educational while entertaining.  We get to see how they make up people worked to create the zombie motif.

Another poster came from the studios for the NY Comi Con. So many posters. I am losing track of which poster is which.  They all look great, and the NYCC Poster is my favorite, right now.

I am inserting the various posters the studio keeps releasing. This one with the candy cane raised over Anna’s head is pretty cool. I like it because it communicates the excitement of a horror Christmas musical, which I find interesting.

Teaming up with her best friend John, played by Malcolm Cumming, Anna has to battle her way through zombified snowmen, Santas, elves and Christmas shoppers to get across town to the high school.

At the high school, they will be safe. But they soon find out that being a teenager is just as difficult as staying alive, even at the end of the world.

McPhail is from Scotland and is best known as a cinematographer, and Anna and the Apocalypse is his first feature film. The screenplay was co-written by Alan McDonald and the late Ryan McHenry.

The movie trailer shows how crazy and silly the movie as Anna and her friends break out into a song among the dangers of the zombies.

“Slice” Red Band Trailer

Written and directed by Austin Vesely, Slice is a comedy horror movie. When a pizza delivery driver is murdered on the job, the city searches for someone to blame.

The usual suspects are ghosts, drug dealers, and a disgraced werewolf.

After watching the trailer, the movie either is so silly and crazy that it will become a sleeper hit or it will become horror fans’ greatest secret.

Vesely’s include video shorts and a movie made for television. Slice is his feature debut.

Joe Keery from Stranger Things plays a photojournalist, and the other cast members include Zazie Beetz, Katherine Cunningham, and Hannibal Buress.
