“Intrigo: Death of An Author” Poster and Trailers

The story is an intense, riveting thriller that keeps you guessing. After an author named David, played by Benno Fürmann, plots the seemingly accidental murder of his wife, played by Tuva Novotny, her body is never recovered.

He’s convinced that she’s still alive. Meanwhile, as David translates the final novel by a writer who also died mysteriously, he finds himself attracted to the man’s sultry widow. Fact or fiction, life, or death in his tale, nothing is guaranteed.

The second trailer is much better and explains the storyline. With that, it looks like a lot of twists and turns.

Written and directed by Wes Miller, Hell on the Border follows the story of Bass Reeves, played by David Gyasi. The movie appears to be an action-packed Western about Reeves, who was the first black U.S. marshal in the Wild West.

Having escaped from slavery after the Civil War, Reeves arrives in Arkansas seeking a job with the law. To prove himself, he must hunt down a deadly outlaw, played by Frank Grillo, with the help of a grizzled journeyman, played by Ron Perlman.

As Reeves chases the criminal deeper into the Cherokee Nation, he must not only dodge bullets in hopes of earning his star but severe discrimination and ends up cementing his place as a cowboy legend.

The cast includes Chris Mullinax, Jaqueline Fleming, Rudy Youngblood, Nick Loren, Marshall Teague, Gianni Capaldi, and Zahn McClarnon.

Directed by Autumn de Wilde, we have another angle of Jane Austen’s flair for writing intriguing stories that are not only funny but revealing.

Austen’s popular comedy is about finding your equal and earning a happy ending. Her story reimagined is a delightful innovative film adaptation of her book Emma. We follow handsome, intelligent, and rich, Emma Woodhouse, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, who is a restless queen bee without competitors in her sleepy little town.

In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.

Wilde’s directing credits are light, but the movie looks good as the trailer shows how funny and silly the film will be. The rest of the cast includes Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, Josh O’Connor, Callum Turner, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson, Tanya Reynolds, and Connor Swindells.

“The Song of Names” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Francois Girard, The Songs of Names is based on the book of the same name by Norman Lebrecht. Jeffrey Caine wrote the screenplay. Caine is an old school screenwriter who wrote one of the James Bond movies Goldeneye, and he received an Oscar nomination for his adaption of The Constant Gardner.

The movie stars Tim Roth and Clive Owen in an emotional detective story spread over two continents and a half-century. Beneath the film’s stunning and pulsing musical revelations, burn the horror of war and the lost souls extinguished from history.

Also starring in the movie is Jonah Hauer-King and Catherine McCormack.

I am curious about the story and might read the book before seeing the movie.

Proven Government Secrets Exploit “Seberg” Poster and Trailer

Kristen Stewart evolved into a talented actress since her Twilight movies. The camera shows her upbeat, charismatic, and determined. Jean Seberg is Stewart’s next role, and she’s embraced the character as the title role for the movie Seberg.

Directed by Benedict Andrews and inspired by true events, the movie follows Seberg as the French New Wave darling and Breathless star.

In the late 1960s, the FBI targeted her because of her support of the civil rights movement and romantic involvement with Hakim Jamal, played by Anthony Mackie, among others.

Andrews tells the thriller through a film noir style. His directing credits include remakes of two Tennessee William’s plays: A Street Car Named Desire and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Written by Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, Hoover’s overreaching surveillance and harassment to suppress and discredit Seberg’s activism destroyed her life and career.

The well-rounded cast includes Jack O’Connell, Margaret Qualley, Zazie Beetz, Yvan Attal, Stephen Root, Colm Meaney, and Vince Vaughn.

The next three movie clips offer the main plot point of the movie, which was the government spying on her because of her strong stance in cultural issues in America.

Written and directed by Andrew Heckler, Burden is a true story about Michael “Mike” Burden, played by Garrett Hedlund, an ardent young South Carolina Ku Klux Klan member.

He rose to the rank of Grand Dragon – and walked away from all of it with the help of his new love and an unlikely ally, the African American religious leader and social activist Reverend David Kennedy, played by Forest Whitaker.

Mike Burden, rejected by his own racist family and raised by Klan leader Tom Griffin, played by Tom Wilkinson, becomes a pillar of the KKK and proponent of the divisive Redneck Shop, a Klan memorabilia store.

But then Mike meets and falls in love with Judy Harbeson, played by Andrea Risborough, a single mother deeply opposed to the Klan and Mike’s allegiance to the group.

Cut off from the only family he has ever known, Mike and Judy reach out to the Reverend, Mike’s former mortal enemy. In turn, Reverend Kennedy proves the power and conviction of his faith when he accepts Mike’s disavowal of the Klan and welcomes him into his home and church.

Together, they face down irate and vengeful Klan members and win over Reverend Kennedy’s skeptical parishioners, forming a genuine bond and forging a path toward redemption and forgiveness.

Heckler is known for directing Armageddon and the TV series Ally McBeal. Burden won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Sundance Film Festival 2018.

The second trailer tells more of the story and journey of this former Klansman and the priest.

Terrific “The Invisible Man” Poster, Clips, Featurettes & Trailers

“What you can’t see can hurt you.”

Leigh Whannell, one of the original conceivers of the Saw franchise who most recently directed Upgrade and Insidious: Chapter 3, wrote and directed The Invisible Man. The movie stars Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss in a terrifying modern tale of obsession inspired by Universal’s classic monster character.

The movie is streaming on Amazon, the Blu-ray and DVD are available as well.

Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass, played by Moss, escapes in the dead of night, She disappears into hiding, aided by her sister, played by Harriet Dyer. The sisters hook up with their childhood friend, played by Aldis Hodge, and his teenage daughter, played by Storm Reid, who also helps her disappear.

The film moves and twists with this sicko driving her crazy by being invisible. Moss is so dedicated to her role, as you can see in the trailers.

The second trailer is even better.

The next two movie clips are intense, but one is in the trailer. I am curious as to what happens after Moss’s character gets the paint on the invisible man.

The featurette is quick and focuses on the 15-year old daughter.

The next two featurettes show the house where a lot of the action happens. Moss talks at the round table is very sure of her role and the movie.

The studio released the next two featurettes after the movie stole the box office weekend and, and the featurettes tell us more about the film. Moss reading the script is a fabulous idea.

“Bad Boys for Life” Poster and Trailers

They are back together for one last ride. If you know the first movie, you know the second one is pretty much the same. The Bad Boys are older and not as light on their toes as they were in the first movie.

The rest of the cast includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, Nicky Jam, and Joe Pantoliano.
