Robin Hood Trailers, Featurette, Movie Clips, and Posters

Directed by Otto Bathurst,  another Robin Hood movie arrives on the silver screen.  I recommend you watch the trailer because the movie is full of slow motion and action sequences.  Some claim Robin Hood as a superhero, but I rather think of him as a legend – mythical legend.

The latest version is about the war-hardened crusader, played by Taron Egerton, and his Moorish commander, played by Jamie Foxx.  They mount a strong revolt against the corrupt English crown.

Jamie Dornan of Fifty Days of Grey movies also stars as Will.  Watching the trailer, I cannot tell if he is a friend or foe of Robin Hood.

Eve Hewson plays Maid Marian.  I hope she is smarter than she appears in the trailer. I am banking on she is smarter and helps Robin Hood instead of only adding to the romance of the story.

The movie clip shows how John is a father figure. Robin Hood is learning from him and the details of overthrowing the Sheriff.

The studio is promoting the movie as a thriller and action-adventure, which includes gritty battlefield triumphs, mind-blowing fight choreography (slow motion), and a timeless romance.

The movie clip “Law and Order” lets us see the sheriff as a villain, which we know from the classic story by Howard Pyle.

In the “Training” movie clip, we see Egerton and Foxx work together creating a scene that shows Robin Hood and John building a relationship based on who is more capable of training who.

The final poster shows the eclectic quality of the cast with a nostalgia in reminiscent to the popcorn movies of the late 70s and early 80s.

The featurette is impressive and shows how hard Egerton worked to master his archery. I watched his teacher, who is in the featurette, on YouTube and he is an impressive archer. I learned that during the ancient times the archers were as fast as we see them shooting in the featurette.  That makes the movie a bit more realistic than its predecessors. Egerton sings a bit for fun on the set, and his voice is fantastic.  Foxx looks like he enjoys himself way too much on the set.

Otto Bathurst cut his teeth as an episodic director for binge-watching streaming shows like Black Mirror and Criminal Justice.

The third trailer is here and still seems to be like most Robin Hood movies.

The second trailer is not doing justice to the movie. Let’s hope for the best and the movie turns out great.

Robin Hood is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming online. Once again, another movie about Robin Hood. The tale is told over and over again. This time the story is quite different from the original and other versions. I am impressed with the archery but the rest of the story varies too much for me to be excited about it.

“The House with a Clock in Its Walls” Trailers, Movie Clips, and Posters

Directed by Eli Roth, The House with a Clock in Its Walls is a magical adventure. The movie follows a spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis, played by Owen Vaccaro.

Eli Roth credits pretty much rest on quite a few television series and some so-so horror movies.

You’ll recognize Vaccaro as the funny and spunky kid in Daddy’s Home movies.

Based on the children’s book written by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey, Lewis goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart.  But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

The second poster shows all the characters with the imagery spellbinding.

The movie also stars Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams, and Sunny Suljic.

The movie is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and it streams from your favorite online source.  With that, you get to see the movie or you get to see it, again and again.

The two movie clips so how the Lewis relates to the house and his uncle as well as his uncle’s neighbor.  I have more clips available but two are block and one you can follow by clicking on the trailer at the each of either clip.

The second trailer is currently blocked worldwide, but hopefully, that is only temporary. The movie trailer is quite good and explains the whole story, which is helpful if you haven’t read the book.

“The Seagull” Trailer and Poster

Based on the play of the same name by Anton Chekhov, written for the screen by Stephen Karam, and directed by Michael Mayer, The Seagull is a pure classic. The story is an actor’s dream to play one of the characters of the poignant and crucifying Russian play, which was first on stage in 1896. 
The cast is brilliant with four very strong actresses including  Saoirse Ronan, Annette Bening, Elizabeth Moss, and Mare Winningham.
The movie follows an aging actress named Irina Arkadina, played by Annette Benning, who spends her summers visiting with her brother Pjotr Nikolayevich Sorin, played by Brian Dennehy, and her son Konstantin, played by Billy Howle, on a country estate.

On one occasion, she brings Trigorin, a successful novelist, played by Corey Stoll, with her. Nina, played by Saoirse Ronan, a free and innocent girl on a neighboring estate, falls in love with Trigorin.

As Trigorin lightly consumes and then rejects Nina, so the actress, Arkadina, all her life has consumed and rejected her son, who loves Nina. The victims are destroyed while the sophisticates continue on their way.

If you are familiar with Chekov’s play, you know the ending of the four-act play. I doubt the movie will be as long.

The movie trailer is very good and shows the conflict between the Nina, Irina, Trigorin, and Konstantin. The supporting cast, such as Elizabeth Moss, appears to offer comic relief. Moss’ last line in the trailer is an awesome delivery.
