Mortal Kombat

Directed by Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat follows an MMA fighter, Cole Young, played by Lewis Tan, who is familiar with taking a beating for money. He is not aware of his heritage or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung, played by Chin Han, has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, played by Joe Taslim, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down.

Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade, played by Jessica McNamee, at the command of Jax, played by Mehcad Brooks, a Special Forces Major. He bears the same strange dragon marking Cole’s had since birth. Soon, Cole finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, played by Tadanobu Asano, an Elder God and Earthrealm protector, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark.

Here, Cole trains with experienced warriors. They are Liu Kang, played by Ludi Lin, Kung Lao, played by Max Huang and rogue mercenary Kano, played by Josh Lawson. He prepares to stand with Earth’s greatest champions against the enemies of Outworld in a high-stakes battle for the universe. But will the situation push Cole hard enough to unlock his arcana-the immense power from within his soul-in time to save the universe?

Watching the trailer, I am impressed. The line, “It’s Godzilla.” is nostalgia.

Showdown

Written for the screen by Eric Pearson and Max Borenstein from the story by Terry Rossio, Michael Dougherty, and Zach Shields, the film has an impressive cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Rebecca Hall.

Directed by Oleg Stepchenko, for the first time, screen legends Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan face off against each other in battle in this epic fantasy adventure, Iron Mask.

To save his homeland from certain doom, a kung fu master, played by Chan, must escape from the maniacal James Hook, played by Schwarzenegger, to send his daughter a secret talisman that will allow her to control a massive and mythical dragon.

This larger-than-life, globe-trotting tale – ranging from the impenetrable Tower of London to the fabled Silk Road and China’s Great Wall – also stars Rutger Hauer in one of the screen icon’s final performances.

The rest of the talented cast includes Jason Flemyng, Yao Xingtong, Anna Churina, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Martin Klebba, Charles Dance, and Christopher Fairbank.

Perspective of Soaring in “Horizon Line” Without Destiny

Directed by Mikael Marcimain, Horizon Line takes thrilling to a whole new level of excitement. The survival story is about two former lovers, Sara, played by Allison Williams, and Jackson, played by Alexander Dreymon. They discover new altitudes of fear aboard a single-engine Cessna plane.

It was supposed to be a routine and casual 99-minute flight to their friend’s tropical island wedding. But within minutes after takeoff, their pilot suffers a fatal heart attack, leaving Sara and Jackson with no idea where they are, no comms, and no clue how to land the plane.

With nothing but miles of ocean and sky in every direction, and a terrifying storm that’s about to envelop them, Sara and Jackson have only one shot with no going back.

Keith David also stars in the film.

“The 355” Focus Women’s Challenge at Espionage

Directed by Simon Kinberg, The 355 follows a dream team of formidable female stars come together in a hard-driving original approach to the globe-trotting espionage genre.

A top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands. We meet wild card CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown, played by Jessica Chastain, who will need to join forces with rival badass German agent Marie, played by Diane Kruger. Along comes former MI6 ally and cutting-edge computer specialist Khadijah, played by Lupita Nyong’o, and skilled Colombian mind-bender Graciela, Penélope Cruz.

They are all on a lethal, breakneck mission to retrieve it while also staying one step ahead of a mysterious woman, Lin Mi Sheng, played by Bingbing Fan, who is tracking their every move.

As the action rockets around the globe from the cafes of Paris to the markets of Morocco to the wealth and glamour of Shanghai, the quartet of women will forge a tenuous loyalty that could protect the world—or get them killed.

The film also stars Édgar Ramirez and Sebastian Stan.

Kinberg has an impressive list of projects. He was the writer-director-producer of Dark Phoenix, Deadpool, The Martian, and writer-producer of the X-Men films. The script comes from both Theresa Rebeck and Kinberg.

The rest of the cast include Megan Fox, Philip Winchester, Jessica Sutton, Calli Taylor, Brandon Auret, Adam Deacon, and Sisanda Henna.

Greenland

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling, Greenland follows a family that struggles for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster. The movie stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Scott Glenn. It is now streaming on Amazon.

Waugh’s credits include stunt work on such movies as True Romance, Days of Thunder, and Gone in Sixty Seconds. His other credits include screenplays for SnitchFelon, and Angel Has Fallen, which starred Gerard Butler.

Zinger of Astonishing, Urgent “7500” Trailer

Directed by Patrick Vollrath, 7500 starts as a routine day at work for Tobias, a soft-spoken young American co-pilot on a flight from Berlin to Paris. He runs through the preflight checklist with Michael, the pilot, and chats with Gökce, his flight-attendant girlfriend.

But shortly after takeoff, terrorists armed with makeshift knives suddenly storm the cockpit, seriously wounding Michael and slashing Tobias’ arm. Temporarily managing to fend off the attackers, a terrified Tobias contacts ground control to plan an emergency landing.

But when the hijackers kill a passenger and threaten to murder more innocent people if he doesn’t let them back into the cockpit, this ordinary man faces an excruciating test.

The movie is available on Amazon and will not be in movie theaters.
