Remarkable “Sing 2” Breakthrough Musical Performances

Written and directed by Garth Jennings, Buster, Meena, Rosita, Gunter, Johnny and Ash prepare for a bigger stage and a brighter spotlight as they leave the Moon Theater for the big city in SING 2.

This animation feature is on the dovetails of the creators of Despicable Me, Minions and The Secret Life of Pets.

The next chapter welcomes Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon back, alongside Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll and Tori Kelly.

“Rocketman” Poster, Elton and Taron Duet, Clips, Trailers & Featurettes

Notice the poster says “based on a true fantasy.”

Riding on the heels of Queen’s bio-pic, Bohemian Rhapsody, Dexter Fletcher takes on another British icon, Elton John, played by Taron Egerton. Rocketman is promoted as an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years.

Following the fantastical journey of morphing from the icon from a shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. The studio is calling it an inspirational story with plenty of Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by Egerton. You might recall Egerton dazzling us with his great archery skills in the recent Robin Hood.

The movie brings us to the familiar story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. The movie includes stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.

Take a look at the movie trailers and see if it suits your fancy. The first one is brief, and the second one offers more details about movie. The featurette talks about Egerton’s singing. He sounds like Elton John for real.

First trailer released .
Second trailer has more of the fantasy aspect of the story.
It’s amazing how much Egerton sounds like Elton John.

The next featurette is about the costumes. Costumes are all about Elton John.

The following clips tell us more about the movie and the life of Elton John. He definitely had his highs and his lows. Bryce Dallas Howard as his mother is smooth and flamboyant as his mother would be. She looks like she is having fun playing this role.

A poignant moment in music history is when Elton and Taron sing together in front of a huge audience at an Elton John’s concert. A magical moment for all of us, this clip compels me to see the movie.

The featurette is about the song Elton John’s lyrists Bernie Taupin wrote for the movie called “Love Me Again.” Egerton does vocals with John and John comments of Egerton’s vocal skills.

Robin Hood Trailers, Featurette, Movie Clips, and Posters

Directed by Otto Bathurst,  another Robin Hood movie arrives on the silver screen.  I recommend you watch the trailer because the movie is full of slow motion and action sequences.  Some claim Robin Hood as a superhero, but I rather think of him as a legend – mythical legend.

The latest version is about the war-hardened crusader, played by Taron Egerton, and his Moorish commander, played by Jamie Foxx.  They mount a strong revolt against the corrupt English crown.

Jamie Dornan of Fifty Days of Grey movies also stars as Will.  Watching the trailer, I cannot tell if he is a friend or foe of Robin Hood.

Eve Hewson plays Maid Marian.  I hope she is smarter than she appears in the trailer. I am banking on she is smarter and helps Robin Hood instead of only adding to the romance of the story.

The movie clip shows how John is a father figure. Robin Hood is learning from him and the details of overthrowing the Sheriff.

The studio is promoting the movie as a thriller and action-adventure, which includes gritty battlefield triumphs, mind-blowing fight choreography (slow motion), and a timeless romance.

The movie clip “Law and Order” lets us see the sheriff as a villain, which we know from the classic story by Howard Pyle.

In the “Training” movie clip, we see Egerton and Foxx work together creating a scene that shows Robin Hood and John building a relationship based on who is more capable of training who.

The final poster shows the eclectic quality of the cast with a nostalgia in reminiscent to the popcorn movies of the late 70s and early 80s.

The featurette is impressive and shows how hard Egerton worked to master his archery. I watched his teacher, who is in the featurette, on YouTube and he is an impressive archer. I learned that during the ancient times the archers were as fast as we see them shooting in the featurette.  That makes the movie a bit more realistic than its predecessors. Egerton sings a bit for fun on the set, and his voice is fantastic.  Foxx looks like he enjoys himself way too much on the set.

Otto Bathurst cut his teeth as an episodic director for binge-watching streaming shows like Black Mirror and Criminal Justice.

The third trailer is here and still seems to be like most Robin Hood movies.

The second trailer is not doing justice to the movie. Let’s hope for the best and the movie turns out great.

Robin Hood is available on Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming online. Once again, another movie about Robin Hood. The tale is told over and over again. This time the story is quite different from the original and other versions. I am impressed with the archery but the rest of the story varies too much for me to be excited about it.

“Kingsman: The Golden Circle” Trailers and Poster

I wanted to post both the green and red trailers, but the red one is blocked for now. I will post it as soon as the production company allows me to do so.

With that, Kingsman: The Golden Circle looks like a fun movie with enough wry humor to keep the edge off of another superhero movie.

I am curious about Sir Elton John’s appearance in the movie as well. I hope he has enough screen time to make the viewing worthwhile.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, who directed the last Kingsman, the trailer pretty much tells the story as we follow a young protege becomes a part of the independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe.

In Kingsman: The Golden Circle,  our heroes, played by a stellar cast of Oscar winners, face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both established. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for

The trailer shows the usual green screen effects claiming a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world.

There are two green trailers but both are different.

“Sing” Fantastic Musical Clips

Directed by Garth Jennings, Sing arrives with animated voices coming from Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, and Tori Kelly.  The movie is a musical comedy about finding the shining star that lives inside all of us.

Set in a world similar to humans but utterly inhabited by animals, Sing follows Buster Moon, played by  McConaughey, a dapper Koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. Buster is an eternal optimist, with a touch of irony. But he loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Now facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he has one ultimate chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition.

Featuring over 85 hit songs, the story focuses on five lead contestants emerge, including a mouse, played by MacFarlane, a timid teenage elephant, played by Tori Kelly, an overtaxed mother, played by Witherspoon, a young gangster gorilla, played by Egerton, and a punk-rock porcupine, played by Johansson.  Each animal arrives under Buster’s marquee, believing that this is their shot at changing the course of their life.

Here is a special message from Sing.  This movie keeps getting cuter.
