Liam Neeson stars in Retribution, an immersive ticking-clock thriller in a high-octane ride of redemption and revenge.

Directed by Nimrod Antal, the story begins with a mysterious caller who puts a bomb under his car seat, Matt Turner, played by Neeson. Then, a high-speed chase occurs across the city to complete specific tasks. Matt is in a race against time to save his kids from a bomb in the back seat of the car he’s driving, following a stranger’s dangerous instructions.

Jack Campion, Noma Dumezweni, Matthew Modine and Emily Kusche also star.

The extended clip is a spoiler.
An extended clip shows a lot about the movie.

“Backtrace” Trailer and Poster

Directed by Brian A. Miller,  writing about movies with a low-budget and former box office draw actors is an interesting proposition. Sylvester Stallone and Matthew Modine are legends in their own right. Yet, I ponder the worth of producing a movie that, most likely will go straight to On Demand, Blu-ray, and DVD.

Backtrace follows MacDonald, played by Modine, after suffering a brain injury from a bank heist gone wrong.  He develops amnesia and is put into a prison psychiatric ward, any psychiatric ward needs to be closed down,  The system doesn’t work.

Following his seventh year in an evaluation, he is coerced by an inmate, played by Ryan Guzman,  and a doctor,  played by Meadow Williams, to break out of prison. After breaking out they coerce him into taking an injection of serum that forces him to relive the life he’s forgotten.

MacDonald must now elude a local detective, played by Sylvester Stallone, a toughened FBI agent, played by Christopher McDonald, and the drug’s dangerous side effects in order to recover the stolen money all while confronting his past.

Modine is best known for the current Netflix hit – Stranger Things.  Stallone is making a name for himself in the Creed movies.

“Sicario 2: Soldado” Trailers, Featurette, and Poster

Directed by Stefano Sollima, Sicario 2: Soldado follows the drug war on the US-Mexico border, which has escalated as the cartels have trafficked terrorists across the US border. Federal agent Matt Graver re-teams with the mercurial Alejandro to fight the war. The movie stars Josh BrolinBenicio Del Toro, and Matthew Modine.

The featurette explains the movie and how the title relates to the storyline.

The third trailer shows more of what is going on in the story. It’s not as long, but it’s good.

The movie trailer tells more about the movie. My first thought was that he was trying to save the girl, which was intense.

I like the original movie with Emly Blunt, though the ending was empty with platitudes. Still, Blunt did a great job. I will continue to enjoy her films.

“47 Meters Down” Trailer and Clips

Directed by Johannes Roberts, we meet Lisa, played by Mandy Moore, on the rebound after a devastating break-up. She is ready for adventure while on vacation in Mexico. Even still, she needs a little extra persuasion when her daring sister Kate, played by Claire Holt, suggests they go shark diving with some locals.

Stranger Things star Matthew Modine also stars as one of the locals. He plays the causal intensity so nicely and wickedly.

The trailer is pretty intense and a great way to gobble up popcorn.

Once underwater in a protective cage, Lisa and Kate catch a once in a lifetime, face-to-face look at majestic Great Whites. But when their worst fears are realized and the cage breaks away from their boat, they find themselves plummeting to the bottom of the seabed, too deep to radio for help without making themselves vulnerable to the savage sharks, their oxygen supplies rapidly dwindling. 47 Meters Down is a terrifying tale of survival set in the domain of the ocean’s fiercest creatures.

Here is the second trailer, “I am so scared!” is kind of a cheesy line because who wouldn’t be scared. The line is redundant and the director should just let the actress act scared. No words are needed for this horrific setup.

Here are some clips from the movie. Yikes!
