Ethan Coen’s “Drive-Away Dolls” Trailers, Images, Clips and Posters

Ethan Coen directs the screenplay by Tricia Cooke, Drive-Away Dolls.

It’s a comedy caper that follows Jamie, played by Margaret Qualleyan, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend. Her demure friend Marian, played by Geraldine Viswanathan, desperately needs to loosen up.

You might have seen Viswanathan in Natalie Krinsky’s The Broken Hearts Gallery, where she wears the same angst expression. The film also stars Dacre Montgomery of Netflix’s Stranger Things.

In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way.

“The Last Duel” Brings Damon and Affleck Back Together With Ridley Scott

Directed by Ridley Scott, The Last Duel follows a true story about France’s last sanctioned trial by combat. The story originates from Eric Jager’s book of the same title.

In 1386, Jean de Carrouges, a knight, played by Matt Damon, and Jacques Le Gris, a squire, played by Adam Driver came to blows to the death after Marguerite, the knight’s wife, played by Jodie Comer, accuses Le Gris of raping her, which he denies.

Watch the trailer, and you’ll see Affleck playing Count Pierre d’Alencon, donning blond hair.

If Marguerite’s husband dies, she ends up burning at stake for perjury. The winner of the duel ends up as divine providence.

According to the New York Times article, the movie forms into three chapters based on a video interview with the three writers of the movie version, Damon, Affleck and Nicole Holofcener: Carrouges story, Le Gris story and Marguerite story. The men, according to Damon, took fastidious notes while women did not because they had no public respect nor held any kind of power. Holofcener wrote Marguerite’s perspective, made of whole cloth, the book lacked the wife’s perspective.

“Stillwater” Challenges Father’s Unconditional Love

Directed by Tom McCarthy, Stillwater follows Bill, played by Matt Damon, an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma. He travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter, played by Abigail Breslin. She’s in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit.

Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, Bill builds a new life for himself in France as he makes it his mission to clear his daughter of any alleged wrongdoing.

McCarthy won an Oscar for Spotlight. Stillwater seems just as powerful and suspenseful. With a father dealing with his estranged daughter imprisoned in Marseille for a murder she insists she did not commit, unemployed oil-rig worker Bill Baker, her father, visits deliver supplies and news. But when Allison presents her father with a new lead, he takes matters into his own hands and attempts to exonerate his daughter. Confronted with a foreign land he does not understand nor belong in, and Bill struggles in his mission until he meets a local woman and her young daughter who help him uncover the truth and, along the way, discover a life that he thought was beyond his grasp.

“I began working on Stillwater about ten years ago. I set out with the intention to make a thriller set in a European port city. I was inspired by a number of Mediterranean Noir writers like Andrea Camilleri, Massimo Carlotto, and Jean-Claude Izzo, whose brilliant Marseille Trilogy led me to the French city. One visit to Marseille and I knew that I found my port. The layers and textures of the city were undeniably cinematic, and the confluence of cultures and the pace of the seaside metropolis felt like the perfect canvas for the film.”

As he combs the streets of Marseille, searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack, Bill finds himself on an unexpected path, growing ever closer to Virginie and Maya. It’s a journey of self-discovery and liberation from a life that long seemed preordained. Yet when his need to prove his daughter’s innocence collides with his commitment to Virginie and Maya, with only tough choices left that not only threaten to destroy his new life but also his last shot at redemption.

Camille Cottin and Deanna Dunagan also star.

“Ford v Ferrari” Posters, Clips, Featurettes, and Trailers

Watch Ford v Ferrari with Christain Bale and Matt Damon

The movie is now available on Amazon, so that you can watch it in your living room.

The two men take on corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966.

Any racecar aficionado who followed racecar driving knows this story. It is an intense and fun story to see on the movie screen. The rest of the cast includes Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, Tracy Letts, Josh Lucas, Noah Jupe, Remo Girone, and Ray McKinnon. I am sure you recognize Balfe, the star of Starz’s popular series Outlander.

Letts, who plays Ford II, stars in quite a few movies as a supporting role, but in The Lovers, he stars with Debra Winger as a lost, married couple, which plays like a dry comedy.

The second trailer is different from the first but tells the same story. The characters are angry and are ready to fight each other.

The movie clip seems ridiculous and nonsensical. I am looking forward to seeing better scenes that make more sense.

The featurette shows an interview with Bale and Damon with cuts to the movie’s intensity.

The following movie clip is beautiful.

The following clip tells it all. Why did Ford back the Shelby car for the Le Mans?

The following featurette talks about the friendship between Miles and Shelby.
