I Feel Pretty Trailer, Movie Clip, Poster & Blu-ray/DVD

In the musical Westside Story, Stephen  Sondheim’s lyrical song “I Feel Pretty” is sung while Maria fancies herself with a new dress, “I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright! And I pity any girl who isn’t me tonight.”

Written and directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, I Feel Pretty is far from anything like Maria’s song. The story follows Renee Barrett, played by Amy Schumer, who doesn’t feel pretty at first, nor look like the ingenue in a Sondheim musical.

Yet, Renne struggles with insecurity because she is not the perfect woman according to her own measures.

Like a Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, she wakes from a fall believing she is the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet. Her new confidence empowers her to live fearlessly. Watch the movie trailer and you will see how fearlessly she lives.  So as the old saying goes, “Is beauty only skin deep?”

The key point of the fairy tale is what happens when she realizes her appearance never changed?

The Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming are happening now.  If you haven’t seen this yet, you can catch it at Amazon.

A cute clip about being pretty from the inside out.

The movie also stars some stellar talent  Michelle WilliamsEmily Ratajkowski, Tom Hopper, and Lauren Hutton.

Thank You For Your Service Trailer, Featurette, Interviews

Directed by Jason Hall, Thank You for Your Service follows a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq. They struggle to fit in with “normal” life like being with family and general civilian life. It is the memories of a war that threatens to destroy them long after they’ve left the battlefield.

The story is told with a strong ensemble cast led by Miles Teller, Haley Bennett, Amy Schumer, Joe Cole, Beulah Koale, Scott Haze, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Brad Beyer, Omar J. Dorsey, and Jayson Warner Smith. The story is based on the bestselling book by Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and author David Finkel.

This is Jason Hall’s directorial debut. He received recognition for his screenplay American Sniper. He also wrote the screenplay for this heart-wrenching drama.

The trailer and featurette with an in-depth interview with Jason Hall are awesome and touches on the battle our service men experience when they return home.  Let’s help them by thanking them for their service and using green mental health treatments, not psychotropic drugs because they are not the answer.

“Snatched” Trailer

I know we should think Snatched is funny, but being kidnapped in a foreign country doesn’t seem like a funny situation.

It all starts after her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation. Impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton, played by Amy Schumer, persuades her ultra-cautious mother, Linda, played by Goldie Hawn, to travel with her to paradise.

Opposites, Emily and Linda realize that working through their differences as mother and daughter – in unpredictable, hilarious fashion – is the only way to escape the wildly outrageous jungle adventure they have fallen into.

Kidnapping occurs in our cities, not just in other countries.  It is hard for me to get excited about this movie even though Goldie Hawn is starring in the comedy.
